We'll finally understand The Lobby, The Imaging Chamber, and what gender pronoun to use for Ziggy? Right? In this remarkably focused episode Dawn, Rachel, and guest Alexandra discuss regional variances in sex ed, what it's like to leap into another gender, and the weather. Next week's episode is Season 1, Episode 5 "How the Tess Was Won" with guest Christy Kilgore Hiltner.

  • Episode 12 - S1E7 - The Color of Truth

    20/07/2017 Duration: 01h40min

CW: Racism, racial epithets In this episode, Dawn and Rachel are joined by James Anderson. We discuss olives and fridge magnets and racism. This episode deals with heavy racial issues, and we have to dance around some unrepeatable language from the show.  We add Gone With the Wind to the list of iconic movies Rachel skipped over.  Sam Beckett seems to be JUST NOW discovering racism, but Social Justice Al educates him on what's what.  We envision burly, white, racist-looking guys reading the casting call for this episode in Variety. Listen for Rachel's heart stopping when it comes time to rate Al's outfits Next week's episode is Season 3, Episode 12 "8½ Months" with guest Alexandra Bowser.

  • Episode 11 - S5E8 - Trilogy: Part 1 (One Little Heart)

    13/07/2017 Duration: 01h07min

In this episode Dawn and Rachel discuss tan lines, Zima, and the first episode of a trilogy that they won't finish reviewing until 2018.  Dawn speculate as to what level of perviness Sam indulges in when he leaps into various strange bodies and just how and what he sees and feels, and Rachel theorizes the existence of ghost boobs and ghost dicks. It's spOooky.  Rachel hasn't seen High Spirits, but she wants to. Meanwhile Dawn has definitely not seen Konrad, a movie Rachel is only 80% sure wasn't a childhood fever dream.  We both agree that nothing is creepier than a spOooky little girl and a fire being set. Next week's episode is Season 1, Episode 7 "The Color of Truth"

  • Episode 10 - S3E20 - Heart of a Champion

    06/07/2017 Duration: 01h16min

In this episode Dawn and Rachel discuss some good old fashioned wrasslin'. They also  debate the correct pronunciation of Caribbean, spend an inordinate amount of time discussing stained glass, and have a brief "bougie off." Those playing the home game of "Movies Rachel Hasn't Seen" have a number of titles to add. Next week's episode is Season 5, Episode 8 "Trilogy: Part 1 (One Little Heart)*" *Yes, we know we announce the next episode is "The Color of Truth" at the end of this episode. Bit of a mixup. They're both the same leap date.

  • Episode 9 - S3E22 - Shock Theater

    29/06/2017 Duration: 01h53min

Content warning: This episode deals with the topic of mental health. Some of the imagery is quite intense and is presented as horrific.  In this episode Dawn, Rachel, and guest Woody discuss Shock Theater: the season 3 finale in which Sam leaps into an inmate of a sanitarium and the treatments cause him to believe he is actually some of the persons a normal viewer would have already seen him leap into. Somehow in this setting we find a way to discuss the importance of unicorns, RuPaul Memes, and Arby’s curly fries. Also Dawn drives home the Back to the Future nods in this episode, we discuss Sam’s impressive curriculum vitae, and Rachel freestyle raps. Check out Woody’s podcast: a minute-by-minute analysis of the film My Dinner With Andre at My Minute With Andre and his radio show AlmostTuesday online or on Rochester’s WAYO 104.3. Next week’s episode is Season 3, Episode 20 “Heart of a Champion”

  • Episode 8 - S2E18 - Pool Hall Blues

    22/06/2017 Duration: 01h36min

In this episode we welcome our very first guest: Ollie Brady from the Best Acquaintances podcast. Do check it out. It's a very lovely podcast.  This episode marks another first: the first time we see Sam leap into a person of color. How did that go in 1990? Tune in to find out.  Meanwhile Dawn and Rachel continue to play "Has Rachel Seen It?" with predictable results, Ollie is the biggest Al's fashion booster, and everyone loves Mr. Tayto.  Next week's episode is Season 3, Episode 22 "Shock Theater" with guest Woody Battaglia.

  • Episode 7 - S5E21 - Memphis Melody

    15/06/2017 Duration: 57min

Hey there listener, are you lonesome tonight? Don't go crying in the chapel. Join a few hard headed women for a little more conversation until it's time for you to go. Yep, this is our first chronological episode in which Sam leaps into a famous person. Which, unfortunately, means this episode is far less concerned with telling a compelling story or dealing with social issues and more concerned with hitting you over the head that this one is about Elvis.   Next week's episode is Season 2, Episode "Pool Hall Blues" with special guest Ollie Brady.

  • Episode 6 - S2E21 - Sea Bride

    08/06/2017 Duration: 01h31s

Did Rachel and Dawn discover the working idea for the Titanic storyline?  Why were there so many flowers? The biggest question- could any of us afford to ride the Queen Mary? We also learn that Rachel’s never heard of the Madonna Inn and that you can now tour the Queen Mary and even stay overnight if you’re in Long Beach. Friend of the show Christy managed to track down the actual cost of a 1954 ticket aboard the Queen Mary from the author of The Tucker-Tyler Adventure, a travelogue of two young women who made the very same voyage. Check out the accompanying website or buy the book at Amazon. Next week’s episode is Season 5, Episode 21 “Memphis Melody”

  • Episode 5 - S4E9 - A Single Drop of Rain

    01/06/2017 Duration: 57min

Dawn and Rachel make it rain and discuss at great lengths both Rainmaker movies. As usual, Rachel has not seen any movie Dawn mentions.  Rachel's obsession with The Music Man rears its ugly head.  All the ladies in this episode are thirsty AF, and not just because the town needs rain.  Also in this episode, violence appears to actually solve everyone's emotional problems! Next week’s episode is Season 2, Episode 21 “Sea Bride”

  • Episode 4 - S5E22 - Mirror Image

    25/05/2017 Duration: 01h04min

In this episode Rachel and Dawn leap right into the series finale. We know a few things: Sam doesn’t know where he is, why he is there, everyone is vaguely familiar, and that Rachel really digs his hair. Oh and a good uniform, Rachel digs those too. Meanwhile, Dawn fact checks beer prices, location, old television shows, and various conspiracies that could make sense but don’t in this episode. Also Rachel has finally seen a movie Dawn references, and her boyfriend spends a long time making a sandwich. If you don’t have HULU check nbc.com for episodes too! Also why Daylight saving time? WHY! Next week’s episode is Season 4, Episode 9 “A Single Drop of Rain”

  • Episode 3 - S2E3 - The Americanization of Machiko

    18/05/2017 Duration: 01h04min

In this weeks episode, The Americanization of Machiko, Dawn & Rachel were pleasantly surprised to find some feminist rhetoric sprinkled among the rampant xenophobia and racism. Join us as we discuss Japanese culture, uptight parents, Al's variety of outfits and Scott Bakula's bare chest. Next week's episode is, somewhat improbably, the series finale Season 5 Episode 22 "Mirror Image."

  • Episode 2 - S1E9 - Play It Again, Seymour

    11/05/2017 Duration: 01h08min

You dirty rats! In this episode Dawn & Rachel go full-on mobster and struggle to parse the hardboiled slang in this tale of betrayal, femme fatales, and eager pulp fiction writers. And then it gets a little weird. Meanwhile, Rachel works very hard to keep Dawn on track, both of them struggle to understand what anyone is really saying, and Dawn briefly considers what a Quantum Leap themed season of Drag Race might look like. Next episode is Season 2 Episode 3 "The Americanization of Machiko."

  • Episode 1 – S5E20 – A Leap Between The States

    04/05/2017 Duration: 57min

Dawn and Rachel leap right in and discuss one of the most controversial episodes of the series right off the bat: the episode that breaks the very rules of the show. In this episode Sam leaps far beyond his lifespan to inhabit his great-grandfather in the middle of the Civil War. Then he solves slavery, basically, because he's Sam Beckett and race issues have totally been solved in the 1990's.  Apologies for the audio quality for this episode. We actually recorded it before the Zero episode and realized we needed to upgrade our equipment. The next episode is Season 1 Episode 9 "Play It Again, Seymour"

  • Episode Zero

    29/04/2017 Duration: 28min

Dawn and Rachel discuss the origin of the show.
