Kelly  park VW show in San Jose is a great show that tops off a weekend full of coo VW events That start Friday night with Mark Merrills open house. Saturday morning is the Red Barn Swap meet. Then a gathering at Miguel Zepeda's Z Shop Saturday afternoon. This was Georges First time up north. It ends up not being the adventure we had hoped for...

John Ercse was introduced to me by Lonnie Reed at the Empi open house. Lonnie said "here's the guy who had the first 1 piece windows" John also still has his first cal-looker from the 1970's Still today! He also helped out some neighbors you may have heard of. Andy & Tommy Costello. He helped those guys with engines & pitting at the races with this young up coming racers. Lots of cool VW history in this one.

What I love about our hobby is that if you want to build a better part. Have at it. Thats where I met Marc Kuttner. While I was walking through the swap meet I met Marc. He has a passion for performance & being an engineer by trade, he made a dial-a- cam gear. His parents were from Germany & that started his trip down the VW path. His 59 Beetle has a 2110 built variable vane turbo so he knows performance. We go deep in cam gear talk. Buckle up & hang on for this podcast.

Joey Giordano snagging his sisters boyfriends oval window. Thats when he got the bug! starting a family young he did all the work himself but things change. He got busy  working and VWs fell to the side for a minute. Once his kids were a bit older he got back into the scene, and not just a little bit. Shin Watanabe is the Editor for Hot VWs magazine. He has a love for Volkswagens that started when he was just 4 years old. He then went on to get started in the Japanese magazine world covering the American car culture. His love then sent him to reside full time in the US. He, like all of us VW fans cant just have 1. Steve is one of the original VW builders from Bakersfield Ca. With is shop Volks Works he built / painted & created over a dozen cars that were featured in the mid to late 80's. His knack for customization & paint put the Bakersfield crew on the map. He also with Chris Addington sold custom dashboards, bumpers and more. If it was cool & from Bakersfield Steve probably played a role in it.
