Synopsis
Tales from the Cobblestones is a podcast about San Onofre State Beach, a 3,000 acre state park located in Southern California. This unique area is home to some of the most famous waves in the country. This area is rich with interesting stories and conflicting issues. In this podcast I attempt to dig deep in some fun story telling, with a surfer's perspective. "Live from the Cobblestones" is a show within the show. In this series we interview interesting individuals in the surf world: Artists, Surfers, Shapers, etc. With a focus on the lifestyle in Southern California and its influence on surf culture.

Jesse Miller

His art got traction from a young age by being at the right place at the right time. The son of a surfer, he had been taken to the beach a lot in his youth..growing up surfing Sano and Blackies in Newport. With a chance opportunity he moved schools in high school to Newport Harbor. It was here that he would make connections and start doing art for all of the top brands in the surf industry. Jesse would go on to produce many logos for brands as a freelance artist. His art is unique and draws inspiration from nature an Psychedelic 60's poster art. Other than drawing...he's a master painter, Woodworker, Stained glass Aficionado which is reflective of his current work where he mixes all three. Tom Morey
08/02/2020 Duration: 01h27minTodays guest is Tom Morey the inventor of the "Morey Boggie" Bodyboard. Tom is a creative surf designer, inventor and theorist from Southern California. Tom was born in Detroit in 1935. His family moved to Laguna Beach when he was 9 and he started surfing Main Beach on a "Surf Matt". He then moved to Santa Monica and began doing "stand-up surfing" at Malibu Point. In 1958 he received a BA in Mathematics from USC and became an engineer for Douglas Aircraft. In 1969 he quit Douglas to start "Morey Surfboards". One year later he formed "Morey-Pope Surfboards" with San Diego Surf designer Karl Pope. Morey and Pope created innovative board designs such as the "Trisect" ... a travel ready, three piece board that came with its own suitcase. Morey helped develop "Slipcheck" a surfboard traction aerosol spray-on used as an alternative to surfboard wax. He invented the W.A.V.E. set, the first commercially successful removable fin system. Jake Rosen-Musician

J.Karen-Wetsuit Repair
22/12/2019 Duration: 01h50sToday's guest is J.Karen AKA Granny J. J.Karen does onsite wetsuit repair down at San Onofre State surfing beach on Friday and Saturday. If the job is bigger, you can drop off your wetsuit at Killer Dana of Terry Senate Surfboards, and she will pick them up and do repairs. She is a traveler and spends half her time in beautiful British Columbia. She fixed one of my favorite wetsuits and it was cheap and easy. She was a delight to meet and she is a character with a wonderful story. I packed up the VW bus early on Saturday morning and headed to Sano for a surf and an interview. After a fun session in the chilly water, I headed back to the bus to warm up and set up the mics. Tosh Johnson: Young Athlete

He was the winner of the "Most committed" award at a recent event in Newport. Tosh lives in San Juan Capistrano and comes from a long line of surfers. He learned to surf at Doheny, now he charges waves everywhere, all around the area. He's a stand out on his Marco Forester Middle school surf team. I parked the bus in a rad spot overlooking the brilliant blue Pacific Ocean. This is where I met up with my next guest, Mr. Goff Stepien... or as every buddy calls him "GOFF" You can't live in Laguna Beach and not know Goff. He is a staple of that town and a hardcore surfer at heart. He is a character of all characters. He's a hilarious entertainer, the owner of a surf school and the head of a local touring agency.
