Despite all of the good things, have you ever noticed how our minds are prone to hone in on the negative? When God empowered Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt–doing a miracle in their midst–they longed to return to Egypt. Their current state in the wilderness had actually caused them to disregard the memory that in Egypt, they were bound as slaves; they forgot God’s faithfulness! In her sermon, “Stacking Stones,” Pastor Joie Miller encourages us to count and focus on our blessings, not our losses. She reminds us that because God realizes human nature’s tendency to illuminate what is going wrong, He calls us to stack stones in remembrance of His goodness.
