He is responsible for campus utilities operations, including the 30MW Cogeneration and District Heating & Cooling Plant, commodity energy procurement, carbon management and has secured financing for three year, $73M in energy efficiency program. John also led UC San Diego in carbon management, helping UC San Diego to be the first university to certify all six green house gases and active participant in the Chicago Climate Exchange.
