Beit Shemesh resident in D Day 80th anniversary jump

Synopsis

World leaders paid tribute to veterans and pledged to continue to stand for democracy as they marked the 80th anniversary of the June 6, 1944, D Day landings , when more than 150,000 Allied soldiers invaded France by sea and air to drive out the forces of Nazi Germany. With the numbers of veterans fast dwindling, this year's event is likely to be the last major ceremony in Normandy honoring them in their presence. Taking part in this year's  commemorations was Beit Shemesh resident Mark Granat who participated in one of the  parachute jumps to mark the 80th anniversary. He spoke to KAN's Mark Weiss  from Normandy. (Photo:Mark Granat)See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
