In this episode, we invited Ms. Jane Elliot, educator and anti-racist activist who is well known for her blue eye/brown eye exercise where she selects participants based on a physical characteristic, the color of their eyes, and exposes them to the experience of being a minority. The following points were discussed during this episode: The anatomy of prejudice: power, perception, and prejudice Discrimination vs Prejudice Indoctrination Hatred and fear Institutional Racism Colorism, Racism, Ethnocentrism Final recommendations Ms. Jane Elliot proposes a change in the education system which we highly support. Curriculums must be developed in which educators teach our children equality across all races because, at the end of the day, we’re all members of one single race, the human race.
