The thought of not having club football for one weekend seems to send most fans into a bit of fit. I’ll be honest, when that weekend comes, it does feel like something is missing. It drags on a bit, especially when you are playing well. But, that feeling of missing something, of not being able to have something you enjoy and look forward to is so much greater for an athlete who is forced to miss multiple months through injury.   That helps frame just some of the conversation I had this week with Amie Barnett. Amie has been a member of Southampton Women’s for 10 years. Over that time she’s seen the club struggle and thrive. She’s worked with a number of dedicated managers and teammates, all of whom she admires and spoke highly of. The club has seen success in recent years, and we discussed that, her early career, the role football played in her life while growing up, and her plans for the future.
