I Speak, You Matter: V.o.i.c.e.s. Fostering Change

The Real Deal on "Aging Out" of Foster Care

Informações:

Synopsis

About 30,000 youth age out of the foster care system in the United States each year. "Aging Out" of foster care is what happens when a youth turns 18 in the custody of the state. With little to no help, support and/or family, these young adults have a higher chance at facing homelessness, unemployment, and incarceration. I Speak, You Matter was created to allow those affected most by the foster care system to share their stories of triumph and tragedy in an effort to create a higher ratio of success stories among those transitioning to a more independent lifestyle after the foster care system. This is an open and safe platform for former foster care youth, life coaches, TIL Support staff and mental health providers to share diverse perspectives, narratives, resources and tips for everyone that have or will touch the foster care system in one form or another. Hosted by renown poet, author, speaker and TIL Youth Ambassador, Nephateria Burke and Florida Youthshine Ambassador and FLITE Peer Advocate Marc Louis.
