Born and raised in the swamps of Georgia, Fred McDonald always enjoyed playing his guitar. He started writing his own songs after his father told him, "You can play other men's music, and they sound fantastic, but you as a man must write your own music in this world." He took his guitar with him everywhere he went (even when joining the army). During his time in service for our country, he lost an eye in battle.
