Synopsis

In 2013, after nearly 20 years of drug and alcohol abuse, Kara Burns walked out of federal prison to face the overwhelming challenges of reentering society, addiction recovery and transitioning to a better life. Since her release, she has dedicated her life to educate about addiction, the challenges associated with being an ex-offender, empowering women through support and mentorship and reducing recidivism, especially among incarcerated women.
