Patrick Woodyard, co-founder and CEO of Nisolo shoes moved to Peru to work in microfinance. He was helping out Doris Quispe with her grocery store, when he met her husband Willan Ulloa, a shoemaker. Captivated by the craftsmanship and classic beauty of Ulloa's shoes, Woodyard set out to start Nisolo (with Ulloa ultimately playing an integral role as master shoemaker), a company dedicated to providing fair trade wages, healthcare and a healthy working environment to its producers.
