Fulgencio Batista Born (Ruben Zaldivar ). Jan 16, 1901 August 6, 1973 ) was a Cuban politician who served as president of Cuba from 1940 to 1944 and as a dictator backed US military from 1952 to 1959 before being overthrown during the Cuban Revolution. Bastista initially Rose to power as part the 1933 revolt of the sergeants. Bastia tortures , public excutions and killed over 20,000 people. He fled Dominican Republic in New Years 1959. Batista fled the island with an amassed personal fortune to the Dominican Republic. Prior to his exodus. He begin to systematically profit from the exploitation of Cuba’s commercials interest by negotiating lucrative relations with both the Americans Mafia , who controlled the drugs , Gambling and Prostitution’s businesses in Havana and with large US multinational companies. Batista aligned with the wealthiest landowners who owned the largest 70% of the arable lands. He died in Guadelmina near Marbella at the time of his death from heart attack on August 6, 1973 .
