Darin Parker of PMI Foods is here to tell us about his perspective on how an inland port will add value to Utah’s economy. DARIN PARKER We have been talking about the economic benefits of having an inland port in Utah for a few years now. Being the crossroads of the West, Salt Lake City sits on the intersection of Interstates 80 and 15. We have a new international airport and an extensive railway system. Interstate shipping is already happening across Utah’s transportation infrastructure, and, frankly, we aren’t capitalizing on it. An inland port with export, import, and customs clearance and inspection capabilities will create new jobs and attract new businesses to Utah. We need to think big.
