Leaving home to find yourself. Finding the resolve to end a marriage to find happiness. These are just a few of the stories Alex Vissia explores in her songs. The Edmonton singer-songwriter began her career in music at age 11. That’s when Vissia and her sisters joined a choir in their hometown of Stony Plain, Alberta. From their modest start playing to seniors homes, The Vissia Sisters when on to play bluesgrass, country and folk songs to audiences at the Edmonton Folk Music Festival. The sisters called in quits in 2011, and Alex went solo. Tonight you’ll hear songs for her latest album, Modern Love, along with a few tunes she’s been working on for her next album.
