From 1979 to 1982 Vonda Pelto was tasked with keeping some of the worst serial killers in history, all housed at Los Angeles Men's Central Jail, engaged and alive. Following the jailhouse suicide of Vernon Buttls, one of the Freeway Killers with William "Bill" Bonin, it was deemed necessary to prevent anymore bad publicity for the LA Health Department.
