Ucm Radio-the Beat

The #MeToo movement has gained a lot of attention recently.  The Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies program at the University of Central Missouri is hosting a MeToo Speak Out to raise awareness.  Olivia visits with Tad Miller in this weeks episode.  Content Warning:  Some material the may be sensitive and difficult to hear for victims of sexual assault and sexual abuse.  If you have been the victim, consider calling the national sexual assault hotline at 800-656-4673.

Summer is coming soon and with that will be lots of traveling. Joining Greg Burns is Jacob Marqua, listen as they discuss some of their fun road trip memories.

Local UCM artist, Miles Lefman, and Greg Burns dive into the life of art commissions. Join them as they talk about some of their favorite works and how their styles have changed over time.

Kellie Nolan is a UCM alum and the lease contracting officer for the General Services Administration.  The GSA is an independent agency of the United States government established to help manage and support the basic functioning of federal agencies.  Kellie is this week's guest on "Voices of UCM."

This week, Mules baseball takes center stage as Nick visits with head coach Kyle Crookes and senior pitcher Colin Jones.  Club sports also get some love, as fencing team captain Alana Golden.  Plus the upcoming UCM athletics action.

This week Olivia visits with Don Kennedy, UCM senior admissions counselor Don Kennedy.  Don graduated with a degree in physical education and a master's in physical education with an emphasis in pedagogy.  He's a former softball coach and player, and is a wealth of knowledge about the University of Central Missouri.

Our host, Nick Distefano, sits down with interim Mules wrestling coach John Feeney (who produced a pair of All-Americans and one of the best UCM wrestling seasons in a decade), and UCM co-head track & field coaches Kip Janvrin and Kirk Pedersen.  Nick also previews the coming week's Mules and Jennies athletic schedules.

Michael Giovannini came to UCM to fly helicopters.  Even though he didn't get to fly helicopters, he stuck with the aviation degree.  He also became a drum major for the Marching Mules, spent time in the military, served as a college admissions professional and today is director of safety for the Denver Air Connection. He is the special guest this week with Olivia on "Voices of UCM".

Thomas Delzit, a DMP major of UCM, joins Greg in Episode 5. Listen as they discuss some of their previous projects and a few fun stories as well.

On this episode of Sports Page, Nick visits with Jennies head basketball coach Dave Slifer as his team readies for the MIAA Tournament.  Nick then sits down with new UCM volleyball head coach Caitlin Peterson before providing a preview of the upcoming UCM sports schedule.

Danielle Sachse graduated from the University of Central Missouri with a double major in musical theatre and digital media production and a minor in sports broadcasting.  She is currently a news reporter for KQTV in St. Joseph, Mo. and color commentator for Missouri Western basketball. Olivia Gibbs got a chance to catch up with her former classmate and chat in this week's episode of "Voices of UCM".

Just a pair of nerds swapping gaming stories!! Welcome to the show Cody Bruckerhoff, a Computer Science major and DMP minor. Join him and Greg as they talk about game design and their fun memories in the world of gaming.

Austin and Carson discuss the open options program at UCM with guest Chris Howard. The open options program helps students who have not decided upon a major and offers them insights into their many options and how students may best achieve their career goals.

UCM Mules Basketball is the focus this week on "Sports Page".  Nick Distefano visits with head coach Doug Karleskint and senior Gavin Pinkley to learn their stories and get their thoughts on the 2021-2022 season.

Gina Goff is a University of Central Missouri alum who graduated with a degree in criminal justice.  After a turn as a paralegal in Kansas City, Gina caught the movie bug and decided to move to LA to pursue a career in the film industry.  She now owns her own film production company.  She sat down with Olivia Gibbs in this episode of "Voices of UCM".

Austin and Carson lay out their plan for season 2 of “Mules With a Mission”. They talk top majors and getting into different industries before bringing in their special guest.

It's media day on Sports Page.  Nick Distefano chats with Ryan Anderson, athletic media relations manager at the University of Central Missouri and then visits with Charlie Martin, manager and social media supervisor for the Jennies soccer team.  Nick also provides a preview on UCM Mules and Jennies athletics.
