Synopsis
A book of characters featuring twelve biographical sketches of those who were major influence on Dreiser. The men are a diverse group including Dreiser's equally famous brother, the songwriter Paul Dresser, the obscure railroad foreman Michael Burke and other equally colourful and striking personages from Dreiser's life. The narratives combine attributes of character sketch, biography, and story telling.
