In this episode I'm joined by Los Angeles' Diana Hong. I met Diana at Limestone Comedy Festival in 2023 and knew I had to have her on Bloody Mary. Derek Sheen is a masterful comedian, storyteller, cook, musician- is there nothing he can't do?? We crossed paths a few years ago at Altercation Comedy Festival and this year at the Alaska B4UDie Fest. We did a mini episode for the fest and decided we HAD to do a full length because Derek is a lover of all things horror that comes from a rich family history of horror appreciation. Danii Gallegos, a long time friend and hilarious person I met nearly a decade ago in Chicago comedy took time out from her busy life to chat with me about Black Phone. Written by Steven King's son, Joe Hill this movie gave us a lot to talk about, the stranger danger of the 80's, male friendship and how toxic masculinity hurts men by training them to not express their feelings. Kandice is a writer who has worked on Stan Against Evil and she's also a comedian. X has it all- the obligatory gas station scene, dangerous grandparents and an alligator! We had a fun time discussing the balance between protecting one's own and creating community in times of chaos, the Triumph of Death, the red door and what it is specifically that comes at night. This movie is brutally nihilistic and quite the contrast to Zach, a delightfully charming comedian out of Omaha Nebraska.
