    The Hong Kong protests have gone on for over half a year, with news of the city’s troubles spreading internationally. While providing a summary of some of the impacts of the protests, this episode will not be focused on conveying the day-to-day updates, instead centering on stories of those from within the city and on its periphery. We interviewed Nitika, a Hong Kong native and a Master’s student here at UChicago; a journalist from mainland China; and Liz from the US with ties to Taiwan, who is also a Master’s student here at UChicago. Their views help us to unpack the different understandings of the conflict from across the globe as well as identify some of the possible outcomes of this troubled time.
