  • Bruce Bowerman

    09/09/2019 Duration: 01h09min

Bowerman's lab, named the Bowerman lab, uses molecular genetics and live cell imaging to study cytoskeletal regulation and function in the early Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans) embryo. Studies of C. elegans have revealed breakthroughs in studying aging, cancer, and other phenomena related to cell division. By removing genes, C. elegans have been made to live more than 3x their normal life span. Bruce says he is fond of research-oriented biology, rather than applied, but looking at his work in the context of the far-enough-future the line between the two may be hard to distinguish.  If you enjoy our podcast, you can  share, subscribe, and follow us on twitter at https://twitter.com/uc_interest
