  • Tanya Gruenberg of GRUN – Episode 33

    24/02/2015 Duration: 18min

It was such a pleasure chatting with Tanya Gruenberg during this episode, and I have to be honest when I first saw her pieces I wasn't sure exactly how fell into the "3D printed" category. Her jewelry looks totally different from anything else that I had seen and during our chat she discusses where her inspiration comes from and also a little bit about her method. When we chatted about her process and it pulled back the curtain for me and now I understand (as much as a beginner can) the printing method she uses. As far as I know Tanya is the first person we've had on the Printing Everyday Podcast to print in resin and use the resin prints to cast her jewelry and her prints are absolutely beautiful and you'll notice that her photos are very unique. Though I didn't ask her about the photography in the episode they aren't renders, and they're staged, and there's a consistent thought behind all of the photos. You can check out Tanya's line at StudioGrun.com, and you can follow all the great th

  • New Matter's Sean Stevens - Episode 29

    15/02/2015 Duration: 21min
  • Steven Cartoccio of Concrete Jungle - Episode 28

    12/02/2015 Duration: 18min

Steven Cartoccio of Concrete Jungle - Episode 28   Episode 28 features Steven Cartoccio, the creator of animated web series Concrete Jungle, you can check out the Pilot here. I am a huge fan of animation and I love the application of 3D printing to animation. And Steven has utilized this technology to create action figures for his series and he's also created a couple music videos which features 3D printing and stop motion. Although we didn't discuss it outright, Steven is a great example that you can always pursue your dreams and interests, no matter what. Originally when he went to school Steven studied advertising, I had to ask if it's helped with the success of this project, and I was surprised to hear that he attributes his success to something else. He had always been interested in art even while pursuing advertising, so after hearing a man from Hasbro talk about the toy manufacturing process he was inspired to attend the School of Visual Arts and he received his degree in

  • John Allwine of Shapeways shop Freakin' Sweet Knots: Episode 23!

    03/02/2015 Duration: 20min

I had a great time chatting with John of Freakin' Sweet Knots and http://freakinsweetapps.com/. Dan Foley from episode 8 recommended that I chat with John about his designs and his methods and I have to say that it was a blast! John learned how to tie knots with his Dad and he used that same knowledge and his background in programming to design an engagement ring for his girlfriend at the time while he was working for Dreamworks as a visual artist. He has worked on Madagascar 3, How to Train Your Dragon, and many more. You can hear him talk about that experience in this episode of the Podcast. When John let me know that he ran a contest on his website to see if followers could tell the difference between a rendering of one of his rings and the actual ring, I had to make a guess myself. When we talked about what he was looking forward to in the near future, John let me know that he was going to begin teaching a course and working with the Children's Museum in his city creating program
