1 Corinthians 11:17-34 has been the “go to” text about the Lord’s Supper often being referenced and read before the sharing of the Lord’s Supper… and rightfully so. No other text pulls together meaning and significance of this communion time as pointedly as this one does. But so often we have missed its point.

There is something about food that seems to bring people together. Luke (writer of Luke-Acts) seemed to understand the power of “breaking bread” together. In fact, he has gone to great lengths to help us see that the table plays an important role with Jesus and the church.

Luke 22:7-30 records the “Last Supper” of Jesus. This is the meal where Jesus institutes the Lord’s Supper. But this isn’t just any meal, it is a Passover Meal which gives strong significance and implications for the celebration of the Lord’s Supper.

If you read through the Gospel accounts you will notice that much of Jesus ministry takes place around a meal table. And all of these tables are meant to inform our understanding of the Lord's Table.

When Jesus and Paul wanted to explain the Lord's Supper, they pointed to the Old Testament practices of covenant meals and fellowship offerings. What can we learn from these practices.

Every week we partake of the Lord's Supper... but why? What does it mean to come to the table and why do Christians consider it so important? This Sunday we are starting a new series focused around this holy time of communion with God and each other.

"You are braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think." - Christopher Robin to Winnie the Pooh Parting words are often pretty significant. Matthew ends his gospel account with some parting words of Jesus.

"Doing nothing often leads to the very best of something." - Winnie the Pooh. I believe to understand this quote, we need to do as Jesus said to his disciples and "be like a child".

There are some points in our lives that when crossed we will never be the same. That kind of change is never easy, but sometimes it is necessary.

The Bible has a lot to say about loving our neighbor. But what does it really look like to love them?

"We can't all, and some of us don't. That's all there is to it." - Eeyore There are often stigmas surround those in our world who aren't "normal". But Jesus makes it very clear that everyone is welcome... Even the gloomy Eeyores.

One the most encouraging characters in 100 Aker Wood is Tigger (IMO). He is full of enthusiasm, always having fun-fun-fun, and often trying to get everyone to join the party of life. In some ways, Tigger is kinda like Barnabas...

Anxiety is rampant in our society. Too many people are like Piglet (at his worst). But scripture has some advice to calm our anxious hearts.

Wisdom is something that most of us are striving for. But are we searching in the right places. (And do we understand it when we get it.)

For almost 100 years, A.A. Milne has inspired us to take a walk through the peaceable world of 100 Aker Wood with Winnie the Pooh and friends. What I did not realize as a kid was that these characters have a lot to teach us about life in the Kingdom of God. Today we begin an "expotition" with this lovable characters discovering some wonderful spiritual truths along the way.

Psalm 46 encourages us to stop trying to control what we cannot control. Rather, we should trust in the God that is in control of it all.

Update on Eastern European Missions

Many Christians are content to sit on the sidelines of faith. But scripture seems to be pretty clear that Christianity is not a sideline faith. So maybe we need to get in the game.
