Jenkins, C.S.C., to rescind the University's invitation to Barack Obama to speak at Notre Dame's commencement May 17. Is it legitimate to make the black experience the fundamental criterion for interpreting Scripture? The problem is imposing the black experience or any other experience including feminist, gay, anti-supernaturalist, New Age, mystic, onto Scripture robs Scripture of its intrinsic authority and distorts its intended meaning. This is what Black preachers like Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson all have done. For blacks to use such an experience-oriented methodology is to condone the very kind of method used by those who enslaved them. This is self-defeating at best.

Folks! It is more accurate to refer to Barack Obama (Arab Origin) as an Arab-American. Here are the facts. Barack Obama is not (like many black Americans) the descendant of African slaves owned by white American slave-owners. Having Arab ancestors, Obama is, in fact, most likely a descendant of slave owners, because Arabs have for many centuries traditionally owned slaves and been active slave traders. Further, the names Barack and Hussein are of Arab origin. Obama is the first Arab-American President of Liberalism.
