  • Nottingham Forest 0-0 AFC Bournemouth: The 1865 Forest Ramble

    13/02/2021 Duration: 13min

The 1865 Forest Ramble is part of the Fan Hub Network - where fans come first. The headlines will say that Forest held Bournemouth, and the Cherries may well have been the better team, but the Reds actually came closest to taking the lead on more than one occasion. Rich and Baz discuss the game, including: defensive resolve; the impact of new signings Krovinovic, Garner and Murrary; the lack of substitutions from Chris Hughton - was this the right thing to do? Also we discuss how the Reds have quietly started to look more like a Championship team, after a disastrous first half of the season, and the symbolism of getting a point against a team in the top six - will this give the team a confidence boost ahead of a tricky away match at Swansea? • Wycombe Wanderers 0-3 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Forest Ramble Podcast

    07/02/2021 Duration: 06min

The 1865 Forest Ramble is part of the Fan Hub Network - where fans come first. Forest were aiming to put more distance between themselves and the bottom three as they travelled to lowly Wycombe and Chris Hughton's side put in a commanding display to return from Adams Park with all three points. Glenn Murray caught the eye as he netted his first two goals in a Red shirt, the first an instinctive lob from just outside the penalty area and the second from the penalty spot after being felled in the area. Anthony Knockaert the scored the third as he tucked away Joe Lolley's ball into the box to wrap up a strong team performance. Steven reflects on the win that moves the Reds four points clear of danger and takes their recent run of form to just one defeat in the last 10, on an afternoon where Murray, Knockaert and James Garner all impressed and Lolley looked more like his old self.   Like what you hear? Will Nicolas Ioannou return? • Nottingham Forest 0-0 Barnsley: The 1865 Forest Ramble Podcast

    31/01/2021 Duration: 11min

The 1865 Forest Ramble is part of the Fan Hub Network - where fans come first. After the heavy FA Cup exit at Swansea, Forest were looking to bounce back as they faced Barnsley at The City Ground. What followed was not a classic, as Chris Hughton's Reds picked up a point against a hard-working, energetic Tykes side. The vistors saw a big penalty shout waved away in the first half, while Lewis Grabban spurned a big chance that could've been the difference on the day. Baz speaks to Carlo from Barnsley podcast The Reds Report to mull over the events of the 90 minutes, including the performance of the two teams, the standard of officiating and look at how Forest and Barnsley will fare after this draw. • 'Stuck between two managers' - The 1865 Forest Ramble Podcast, January 2021

    24/01/2021 Duration: 01h08min

The 1865 Forest Ramble is part of the Fan Hub Network - where fans come first. As 2020 turned into 2021, Forest embarked on a seven-match unbeaten run, pulling themselves away from the Championship relegation zone as well as progressing into the 4th Round of the FA Cup. However, two defeats in four days, including a disappointing cup exit at Swansea, have seen some concerns resurface. Rich Ferraro is joined by Steven Toplis, Baz and Tom Newton, where they discuss that heavy cup defeat in South Wales, a lack of streetwise smarts from the Reds and ask if Forest are suffering from a crisis of confidence. Also, the team looks into how Chris Hughton can turn the team's fortunes around and pick their moments that sum up Forest's season so far. Like what you hear? • Nottingham Forest 1-2 Middlesbrough: The 1865 Forest Ramble Podcast

    21/01/2021 Duration: 14min

The 1865 Forest Ramble is part of the Fan Hub Network - where fans come first. The Reds' recent unbeaten run came to an end in disappointing fashion, as the level of performance rarely got out of first gear against a Middlesbrough team who used their Warnockisms to good effect. Despite Loic Mbe Soh's late goal, any faint glimmer of hope extinguished when Yuri Ribeiro lost his head (he wasn't the only one) and got a red card. We are joined by Phil Spencer from Bonkers For Boro to discuss mind games, performance levels and surly striker-skippers. Like what you hear? • Nottingham Forest 3-1 Millwall: The 1865 Forest Ramble Podcast

    17/01/2021 Duration: 15min

The 1865 Forest Ramble is part of the Fan Hub Network - where fans come first. Following successful FA Cup exploits the week before, Forest and Millwall returned to league action at The City Ground and it was the Reds who came out on top. They put in an impressive all-round team performance to secure a 3-1 win; two goals from Sammy Ameobi and one from Ryan Yates giving Forest a deserved three points. We are joined by Henry Morgan from Millwall fan podcast No-One Likes Us Talkin', to discuss the result, the performance of both the Reds and Lions and reflect on where the teams' fortunes are at the halfway point of the season. • Nottingham Forest 1-0 Cardiff City (FA Cup Third Round): 1865 Forest Ramble Podcast

    12/01/2021 Duration: 10min

An early goal from Lyle Taylor was just about the only goalmouth action in this tight affair between two teams who created little. However, there are signs that this is becoming a Chris Hughton team, with Joe Worrall and Scott McKenna looking strong at the back, although the midfield again lacked spark and creativity. We are joined by Ben Price from the View From The Ninian podcast, who offers his opinion on the similarities between the Bluebirds and the Reds, notably a lack of cutting edge; Ben predicts a season of mid-table safety/mediocrity (delete as applicable) for both teams. • Preston North End 0 - 1 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Forest Ramble Podcast

    03/01/2021 Duration: 05min

The 1865 Forest Ramble is part of the Fan Hub Network - where fans come first. Forest got their 2021 off to the best possible start by picking up a crucial 1-0 victory at Preston North End. Despite the home side hitting the bar twice, Forest put in a strong team display to return from Deepdale with all three points, courtesy of Lewis Grabban's second half penalty after Cafu's shot was blocked by a Preston hand.  The win moves the Reds three points clear of the Championship drop zone and extends their unbeaten run to five matches. Manager Chris Hughton was understandably delighted with the result and in our match report, we reflect on a big three points gained on the road. Like what you hear? • Stoke City 1-1 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Forest Ramble Podcast

    30/12/2020 Duration: 08min

The 1865 Forest Ramble is part of the Fan Hub Network - where fans come first. After making it three games without defeat with the draw against Birmingham City on Boxing Day, Forest continued their Christmas programme with a Tuesday night trip to Stoke City. The Reds fell behind in the first half after some poor defending which seemed to sum up Forest's 2020 in a nutshell but fought back in the second, forcing an own goal to level the scores. Chris Hughton's team might even have claimed all three points had Cafu put away an opportunity that had been gifted to him by some generous home defending.  We are joined by Dave from Stoke City fan podcast Wizards of Drivel to discuss the result, the performances of both Stoke and Forest and how the game was viewed by the Potters supporters. • Nottingham Forest 0-0 Birmingham City: The 1865 Forest Ramble Podcast

    27/12/2020 Duration: 04min

The 1865 Forest Ramble is part of the Fan Hub Network - where fans come first. Forest have been known to serve up their fair share of Boxing Day drama down the years. This year, however, was a different tale.  The Reds saw a familiar face return to The City Ground in the form of ex-gaffer Aitor Karanka, now in charge of Birmingham City and the Spaniard saw his side head back across the Midlands with a clean sheet and a share of the spoils. The game wasn't a classic, with neither team looking likely to win it. Despite that, Forest did have some chances, most notably Ryan Yates and Tobias Figueiredo, who saw their efforts saved by Neil Etheridge. 26 years after a similarly uneventful Boxing Day stalemate, Rich Ferraro reflects as Forest were left to rue missed opportunities, after failing to put away a Blues team who were content with a point. Chris Hughton made some positive substitutions in the second half and he will have seen small signs of progress to build on as the New Year approaches.  Like what you

  • "It's Christmas time, there's no need to be afraid..." The 1865 Forest Ramble Podcast, December 2020

    23/12/2020 Duration: 01h03min

The 1865 Forest Ramble is part of the Fan Hub Network - where fans come first. After a really turbulent and difficult run of defeats, Forest have just managed to pull out a win and a draw to give us a faint glimmer of hope as we head into the Christmas period. However, even the opposition fans have been telling us that Forest aren't performing that badly, but conceding soft goals and failing to create chances isn't going to get you results. Rich Ferraro is joined by Steven Toplis, Baz and the Maradona Of The Midlands to discuss whether the bad results tell the whole story, and whether Chris Hughton needs more new players in the January transfer window. We also return to the impact of Covid - whether it has affected the unity of the squad and how much the Reds have missed having supporters in the stand. Like what you hear? • The 1865 Forest Ramble meets: NFFC Supporters' Trust

    22/12/2020 Duration: 49min

In the second of our long-form podcasts this week, we meet the Chair of the Nottingham Forest Supporters' Trust, Elliott Stanley, to discuss what the Trust are for, what they do, and how they interact with the club. We also speak to founder member Tom Newton, to hear how the whole thing started, at a time when fans felt alienated during the Fawaz regime. Elliott and Tom tell us about what the Trust can and cannot do, and respond to accusations from some fans that the Trust is simply a mouthpiece for the club. Like what you hear? • It's Tricky To Talk: The 1865 Forest Ramble Podcast

    21/12/2020 Duration: 39min

In this special podcast, we speak to Bethany Didsbury who received a shirt from Nottingham Forest in recognition of her contribution to the NFFC Tricky Hub. Beth candidly discusses her story, from spotting the club's "It's Tricky To Talk" campaign, and plucking up the courage to visit the Tricky Hub. You can read Beth's story on her blog. We hear from Beth about the work of the NFFC Community Trust in supporting fans with mental health disorders and illnesses; although the campaign was targeted towards men (who may otherwise suffer in silence), they welcome everyone. We also hear how the work of the Community Trust has adapted to Covid restrictions. Like what you hear? • Millwall 1-1 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Forest Ramble Podcast

    20/12/2020 Duration: 08min

After both sides got their first victory in ages in midweek, it was important to pick up another result straightaway; while the Reds might not have got three points, they showed some of the fight and desire that was missing earlier in the season. Alex Mighten's first senior goal was a good reward, despite the concession of another soft goal. We are joined by Henry Morgan from Millwall fan podcast No-One Likes Us Talkin', to discuss the result, the performances, and to continue the ongoing debate about how much the players miss the fans. • Nottingham Forest 2-0 Sheffield Wednesday: The 1865 Forest Ramble Podcast

    16/12/2020 Duration: 06min

Three points? Remember them? A good night for Forest, albeit against the worst team in the division. An early goal from Yuri Ribeiro and a (controversial) late one from the returning Lewis Grabban secured a much-needed victory for the Reds after an awful run of defeats. Baz reports on a night where Alex Mighten and Loic Mbe Soh finally started, and Cafu exerted some forward-facing impetus. Let's not get carried away, but we hope that the team, the manager and the fans can feel a little more positive before visiting an empty Den on Saturday. Like what you hear? • Nottingham Forest 1-3 Brentford: The 1865 Forest Ramble Podcast

    13/12/2020 Duration: 14min

Another match, another defeat. The results are awful, and some fans are laying the blame at whoever they can - players, managers, CEO/owner, each other. However, after an awful first half (and another cheap goal conceded), Forest actually gave Brentford something to think about, just as they did against Norwich and Watford. You might not believe it, but there are signs of life. We were once again asked to appear on Talksport2 to share our thoughts about the situation at the City Ground, and we are also joined by Billy Grant from Brentford podcast Beesotted, for a review of the match and a summary of Forest's hopes for the rest of the season. • The 1865 Forest Ramble: what is wrong at the City Ground?

    11/12/2020 Duration: 11min

Earlier in the week, we were asked to contribute to a couple of shows to talk about Forest's awful season (and year) so far. Firstly, hear Rich Ferraro in conversation with Ryan Dilks and Justin Peach from the Second Tier Podcast, discussing the Reading game, but more importantly, the bigger picture as to why Forest are doing so badly. Then we cut to Monday's discussion with Talksport2, discussing the form and confidence of the players, whether Chris Hughton is a good appointment as manager, and whether there are potentially wider issues affecting the club. • Norwich 2-1 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Forest Ramble Podcast

    11/12/2020 Duration: 08min

Yet another defeat for Forest as this awful run of hard games continues. However, the Reds at least looked a bit more competitive, and they managed to score for the first time in ages, albeit via a fortuitous cross from Antony Knockaert that went straight in (right now, we'll take what we can get). We are joined by our very own Baz, with a Forest fan's perspective, and by Norwich City supporter Tyrone Bradford, who shares his thoughts on the match, on Chris Hughton, and Forest's prospects for the season. • The 1865 Forest Ramble meets: David Phillips!

    07/12/2020 Duration: 01h02s

Yes, THAT David Phillips! Steven Toplis and the Maradona of the Midlands have an illuminating chat with the ex-Forest midfielder, who tells us about Frank Clark, winning Player of the Year as we got promotion, the Premier League and playing in Europe. David also tells us about his upbringing, playing in the 1987 FA Cup Final, and his experiences as an international right back despite playing left wing for Norwich. We also uncover exactly why a player we signed as a winger ended up playing as a defensive midfielder under Frank Clark, and freezing his bits off whilst wearing a dress. Like what you hear?
