    Our hosts got a kick out of our new guest this month, Joelle McCormick, Team Leader based in our Austin, Texas office on our MEP Engineering team. She talked about growing up in New Jersey and going off to college at The Pennsylvania State University to become a doctor. She changed her career path to becoming an engineer because she is good at solving problems and making systems work efficiently. She went on to talk about how she found herself moving to Austin, Texas after a site visit with a previous employer while eating Thai food. She ended up here at WGI and has been with us for 5 years!

We were excited to get to know Jose since he was recommended so many times to be on the podcast. He also talked about his favorite place he has ever been to which is Barbados. He is an avid surfer and he loves visiting Barbados to surf.     In this episode of WGI Unleashed, we got to chat with Jeff Cassell, Proposal Coordinator who is located in our Orlando, FL office, and Katherine Heighway, Senior Proposal Coordinator located in our Austin, TX office. Both Katherine and Jeff work in our Business Development Team. They both work with our technical professionals to develop captivating responses to RFPs/RFQs that spark the interest of our clients. Jeff's experience is very broad and versatile from various forms of media which include magazine production, special print and digital projects in the newspaper industry, working at an advertising agency, and in radio broadcasting. Having spent most of his early career working on retail roll-out programs, Casey excels on projects that are thoroughly designed at a fast pace and delivered within a succinct schedule. Casey talks about his training for RECA KnockOut Night that he participated in, his passion for jiu-jitsu, and what it was like growing up with eight siblings in southern California. Casey also discusses how he grew up around electrical contractors in his family, so becoming an Electrical Engineer was almost unavoidable.

    Lindsay has over 13 years of experience providing professional planning services in both the public and private sectors. Her extensive experience includes due diligence reports, comprehensive plan amendments, rezoning, and site and master planning. Lindsay has also provided planning support for land acquisition through the eminent domain process for the FDOT, facilitated public outreach, and worked with neighborhood groups on master plans, and with government entities on corridor and streetscape studies. Lindsay also has experience managing and representing multidisciplinary projects through the entirety of the land use entitlement process. On the podcast, Lindsay discusses how she started working in the planning field and her role as Director of Planning for WGI. She initially went to school for Pharmacy but changed her major a few times until she found her passion in Planning. Lindsay shares about her time growing up in New Hampshire, making her way to Florida, and raising her twin daughters.

In this episode, we have the opportunity to chat with Engineer Intern, Artis Dukes.  Artis is a part of our Roadway Team in the Orlando, Florida office. Artis spoke with us about his experience with engineering analysis, design, and production for roadway projects here at WGI. Artis also discussed the benefits of starting as a drainage engineer and then transitioning into the roadway position he now holds.    Artis shared his experience of working on the now completed Wekiva Parkway Design-Build project, and how being a civil engineer gives him the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy.   We also discussed Artis’ experience living and working in Juno, Alaska for two years with the Coast Guard, how he spends his free time with his daughter and his passions for cooking.
