Synopsis

Welcome to Marveling at the Movies, a new podcast for Multiversity with Alexis Perry, Matthew Meylikhov and future internet superstar Matt DiChiara. In this show, Alexis and Matthew (two people very fluent in movies, comics, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe) make their friend Matt (who has never seen any of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films before Black Panther) watch every single Marvel Cinematic Universe film that came out before Black Panther. To quote Matt, "...cool."

Episodes

  • Season 4, Episode 3: X-Men 2: X-Men United (Or, The Brotherhood of Every Villain is Lemons)

    20/04/2019 Duration: 01h47min

Matt, Alexis and Matthew sit down to watch the best superhero film of 2003, X-Men 2: X-Men United. Matt discovers that Jean Grey is definitely his favorite character, Alexis introduces a new bit by accident, and Matthew finds a reason to go watch Spongebob Squarepants.

  • Season 4, Episode 2: X-Men (Or, Who Can Own More CAT Scans?)

    13/04/2019 Duration: 01h55min

Matt, Alexis and Matthew sit down to watch the 2000's X-Men. The history of superhero films are discussed, a whole stupid debate happens around the term "Omega Level Psychic," and there's a sick Hawkeye burn somewhere in there too.

  • Season 4, Episode 1: Welcome to the X-Men, Matt DiChiara! (Or, Hope We Survive The eXperience)

    13/04/2019 Duration: 30min

In the inaugural episode of Season 4 we see if Matt knows anything about the X-Men, and try and set better expectations than we did for Season 2. You can also tell this was recorded a little while ago by the fact we call it Season 3, even though Season 3 was the Matrix! Oops! Either way, things are gonna get weird.

  • Season 1, Episode 21: Captain Marvel (Or, Secret Shady Shit)

    12/04/2019 Duration: 01h44min

In the latest episode of the Marveling gang actually watching Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, we see Captain Marvel aka a Nice, Fun, Palette Cleanser. We talk about the movie, how we love cats (every kind of cat), how all men are dumb, and also freak out about how good Samuel L. Jackson looks (with apologies to Paul Giamatti).

  • Season 2, Episode 10: Shazam! (Or, SHOW ME THE WORM!)

    12/04/2019 Duration: 01h49min

In the latest addition to the DCEU season, the Marveling gang goes to see DC's Captain Marvel film. There are a lot of complaints about the lack of talking tigers, but then a lot of dialogue about talking worms. You win some, you lose some. We also didn't have access to our upgraded microphone, so apologies for the distortion -- but, to be fair, we assume most of our listeners at this point understand that quality is not this show's forte.

  • Season 3, Episode 3: The Matrix Revolutions (or, The One Where We've Drunk Too Much)

    01/04/2019 Duration: 30min

In a complete surprise, the gang returns to binge watch the Matrix Trilogy. But since this is April Fool's, they're also going to drink heavily throughout the whole thing. Is this a good idea? Probably not. Did we do it anyway? Obviously yes. In the final installment, the gang barely makes it through because of how late it is and how uch they've had to drink, and Matt delivers an impassioned monologue about his thoughts for the film.

  • Season 3, Episode 2: The Matrix Reloaded (or, The One Where We Have Been Drinking)

    01/04/2019 Duration: 01h04min

In a complete surprise, the gang returns to binge watch the Matrix Trilogy. But since this is April Fool's, they're also going to drink heavily throughout the whole thing. Is this a good idea? Probably not. Did we do it anyway? Obviously yes. In the second of three installments, Matt finds out why everyone generally says to not watch the Matrix sequels, while Matthew and Alexis eat cookies and drink on air because we're professionals.

  • Season 3, Episode 1: The Matrix (or, The One Before We Started Drinking Heavily)

    01/04/2019 Duration: 01h30min

In a complete surprise, the gang returns to binge watch the Matrix Trilogy. But since this is April Fool's, they're also going to drink heavily throughout the whole thing. Is this a good idea? Probably not. Did we do it anyway? Obviously yes. Tune in as Matt learns what the Matrix is, and starts to understand what all the hype was about (while hoping it continues to get better from here).

  • Season 2, Episode 9: Aquaman (or, All He Wears is Pants)

    19/01/2019 Duration: 02h47s

In yet another surprise bonus episode for Season 2 (fine, we did it), we went and saw Aquaman. In this episode we talk about comic continuity, taking notes in the dark, Pitbull, and what's the better name: Aquaman, Black Manta or Ocean Master? And, yes, before you ask: the next episode that appears in this feed will be for Season 3: Mutanting at the Movies. There will be no more surprises. ... or will there be?

  • Season 2, Episode 8: Teen Titans Go! To the Movies (Or, a Good Palette Cleanser)

    25/12/2018 Duration: 01h10min

In this surprise bonus episode (what, did you think we were going to watch Aquaman?), we watch and talk about Teen Titans Go! To the Movies. We hope you like farts and Michael Bolton as much as we do, as well as Slaaaaaaaaaaaaddddeeeee. This episode is less about Matt's notes more than just talking about a movie we like, so enjoy the extra episode and we'll see you soon for an eXcellent Season 3!

  • Season 2, Episode 7: We Did It! (Or, This Is Bad)

    08/12/2018 Duration: 39min

In the final episode of Season 2, we look back on our journey and the friends we made along the way. And by that, I mean subject Matt to information about all the movies coming up next in the DCEU, including everything we know about the two Suicide Squad spin-offs. He's thrilled, trust us. We also check in with Brad Garett and tease an eXciting third season yet to come. It's a fun time for the whole family!

  • Season 2, Episode 6: Justice League (Or, Booths)

    01/12/2018 Duration: 01h53min

In the latest episode, we finally watch Justice League as the League comes together. Between Matt's hated Zack Snyder and Matt's beloved Joss Whedon, is there any semblance of a good movie in here? Or is it just 40% of a good movie? Tune in to find out.

  • Season 2, Episode 5: Wonder Woman (Or, Prepare For A Lot Of Dialogue About Brad Garett For Some Reason)

    24/11/2018 Duration: 01h52min

In the latest episode, we watch Wonder Woman, aka the "only good movie of the DCEU." Does Matt agree with this sentiment? Does Alexis actually have positive commentary about the film, for the first time this season? Does Matthew cry during it again? The answers to this and more in the latest episode (though to be honest, it's Yes, Yes, and Of Course, Come On, Did You Even Think Otherwise?).

  • Season 2, Episode 4: Suicide Squad (Or, He Loves His Daughter)

    17/11/2018 Duration: 01h57min

In the latest episode, we watch the extended edition of Suicide Squad in what is arguably our best episode ever. Why? There's so many jokes in this one that to tell any of them would spoil the fun, but the subtitle of this episode is probably at least a hint of things to come, right? Tune in. You'll love... this episode.

  • Season 2, Episode 3: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - The Ultimate Edition (Or, Batman’s Into Fisting)

    09/11/2018 Duration: 02h05min

In the latest episode, the team watches the 3-hour Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - The Ultimate Edition. Does anyone make it through the whole thing? Do they have any energy to talk about it afterwards? Is Batman still cool in anyone's eyes after this? All this and more in the latest episode.

  • Season 2, Episode 2: Man of Steel, (Or, Russel Crowe as Daddy Man)

    03/11/2018 Duration: 01h51min

In the latest episode, we start with Man of Steel. Matthew tries to convince Matt that there's a decent film buried somewhere in the film while Alexis tries to argue that Superman is a great character. Does Matt believe either of them? Outlook not so good.

  • Season 2, Episode 1: We’re Back! (Or, What’s a DC?)

    27/10/2018 Duration: 25min

In the inaugural episode of Season 2 we introduce the premise of the season, test Matt's knowledge of the DCEU, and generally prep ourselves for all that is which to come. Spoiler Alert: our shortest season might just feel like our longest, but hey, what are you going to do? Not listen? Yeah, we didn't think so.

  • Season 1, Episode 20: Avengers: Infinity War (or, a Chris-Chris / Chris-Chris Crisscross)

    03/05/2018 Duration: 01h11min

In this extra added episode to our first season, we dive into Avengers: Infinity War, go over a multitude of fun facts, reflect on our theories while making new ones, find out if Matt will ever read a comic book, and re-invent the "yadda yadda." As a note, spoilers abound. If you haven't seen the movie, we will ruin key moments for you.

  • Season 1, Episode 19: Goodbye! (or, Let’s See Infinity War!)

    26/04/2018 Duration: 45min

In the last episode of the first season, we talk a bit about Black Panther, reveal Alexis and Matthew's stack rankings, hear Matt's predictions for Infinity War, ask Matt a whole bunch of questions we've been holding back asking -- and, oh, Matt causes Alexis and Matthew to audibly gasp. How? You'll have to listen in to find out!

  • Season 1, Episode 18: Thor: Ragnarok (or, I Love You From My Head Tomatoes)

    25/04/2018 Duration: 01h35min

In the latest episode, we watch Thor: Ragnarok, are adequately and sometimes overly whelmed, theorize about the "real" third Thor movie, and Matt rants about the lack of AC/DC in this film over Led Zeppelin.
