20/11/2018 Duration: 42minEach year, ASU students team up to compete at the American Astronautical Society CanSat competition. Their mission? To design and build a space-type system and compete against teams around the world! This year teams were tasked with building, launching and landing a can satellite equipped with temperature and air pressure sensor, a communication system and a parachute. Each can satellite also contained an egg that must remain intact throughout its journey. 14/11/2018 Duration: 33minPhoenix, Arizona has a goal of achieving a 40% waste diversion rate by 2020 and it's innovations like Surya Iyer’s that will help the city get there. Surya developed Smart-Sort, an IOT based sorting machine that efficiently sorts recyclable waste at source to improve diversion rates for institutions. Smart-Sort eventually merged with Hygiea, another ASU startup that similarly uses IOT to make waste management more manageable. 01/10/2018 Duration: 30minThis week we learn what it means to be a leader of innovation from two Mentors for Academic and Personal Success (MAPS) in ASU’s College of Nursing and Health Innovation. MAPS not only help first-year freshmen transition to college life and their studies, they help freshmen with one of the most important projects to kick off their time at ASU: the Health Innovation Exhibition Project. Brynne and Jasmine have a unique perspective on innovation because they are involved in the process of unearthing possible innovations with their students as well as guiding and coaching them through the innovation process.
