In our third instalment of the ‘We are Sunrise’ series we are looking at how Jesus helps us to know Him and make Him known; especially in uncertain times. Jesus helps us to know Him through: 1. His Presence (Holy Spirit) 2. His Bible (word) 3. His Church

This week we discuss Jesus as our great high priest. A priest is necessary to mediate the gap between sinful man and a holy God. Therefore this important task requires an extraordinary priest. Sunrise, we exist to know Jesus as our great high priest and make Him known to a world in desperate need of His mediation. We must know: 1. Jesus as our supernatural high priest 2. Jesus as our sympathetic high priest 3. We can approach God’s throne of grace

In this series we will be discussing who we are and what we have been called to do on island and in the world. In short, Sunrise exists to know Jesus and make Him known. We need to believe and grow in our understanding of the true Jesus so as to make Him known in a world that has been deceived for far too long.

We have arrived at our last discussion through the book of Colossians. Our overarching question throughout series has been, ‘is Jesus really enough?’ Meaning is He enough for our lives, our salvation, putting off sin, for or marriages, singleness, work etc. Our final question is, ‘is Jesus enough for the world?’. And if so, what is our role in it? We can declare the mystery of Christ: 1. Through steadfast prayer 2. Through gracious speech 3. Through wise living

We get a chance to hear from our mission partners based in Honduras as to what their experiences have been and how God is preparing them for a new season. Then we look at Paul's first missionary journey to examine what he considered success.

In our second last session through Colossians we discover if Jesus is enough for our work life. Paul continues to answer in the affirmative but also by imploring us to take up our responsibility by applying some Christ centred principles. Jesus is enough to transform our work life by: 1. Working for God 2. Working with sincerity 3. Working with accountability

Is Jesus all we need to have a new or transforming marriage? Paul, says yes if we take up two main responsibilities or two main roles within marriages. To have a new marriage in Christ, requires: 1. Christ like submission 2. Christ like love

As we begin a new year, let us remember God's goodness and faithfulness to us, to feed our faith, and starve our pride.

In Colossians 3:1-17, Paul writes encouraging the believers that Jesus was calling them to "put off" the old self, and the put on the new.

Isaiah 58 describes what God desires when we fast. Instead of going through the motions, God wanted the Israelites to expose their sins, examine their hearts, fast and live for a Godly purpose, and delight in Him.

The wise men gave odd gifts for a baby, but perhaps they realized who Jesus was from the very beginning. Their gifts shed light as to who Jesus' identity truly is.

In Romans 12:1-2 Paul appeals to those in Rome that they were made to worship. We examine 3 facets of those 2 verses: 1) The Call: lifelong worship 2) The Cost: changing for worship 3) The Goal: the glory of the God we worship

As Christians we believe Jesus has given us two sacraments that we are to observe. One being communion and the other water baptism. Water baptism in and of itself has no power to save but rather symbolises the saving act and power of Jesus. Paul speaks about this in Colossians 2:8-15. Specifically, baptism symbolises Jesus victory over: 1. Deceptive doctrine 2. Indwelling sin 3. Debt of religion 4. Devil and his demons

In part 7 of our journey through Colossians we will discover how to withstand deception. All Christians can withstand deception by: 1. Being united in Jesus 2. Growing in confident knowledge of Jesus 3. By walking in Jesus

2 Corinthians 5:10-21 tells us that our duties as Christians are to disciple others. We are called to persuade others to open their eyes, be controlled by the love of Jesus, and implore others to be reconciled with God.
