The story of the exorcism of "Robbie Mannheim" in 1949 is one everyone at Saint Louis University knows. However, no one has exactly the same version. Our story follows these various versions, exploring not the veracity of each but their circulation in and around Saint Louis University. Where did we hear it? From whom did we hear it? When The Bridge Outreach permanently closed its doors on June 30, 2016, New Life Evangelistic Center became the only emergency homeless shelter in downtown Saint Louis. Our story is about a standstill between this one shelter and the downtown residents/city officials who petitioned and voted to restrict New Life's capacity. If New Life loses this case, downtown Saint Louis will become one big geographic hole in homeless services while north Saint Louis becomes the new hub.
