When a traitor is discovered inside the Dollhouse, Echo and Sierra are programmed as spy hunters to uncover the culprit. Meanwhile Ballard learns a dark secret about Mellie and moves one step closer to the Dollhouse.

When a memory super-drug is released into the general population of a university, an army of dolls is sent in to contain its spread and solve the mystery of its release. Meanwhile, Echo's routine engagement with a familiar face is rudely interrupted when a television bulletin causes memories from Caroline's life to surface.

Ballard gets a lead on a possible Dollhouse client and he finds more than he expected. Meanwhile at the Dollhouse, an active is being abused, possibly by another active.

Echo is programed to go under cover as a blind woman at religious cult in Arizona after a corrupt senator recruits Dollhouse to assist the ATF in the breakup of the cult. But with Boyd watching from a distance, he soon learns that the Jonas Sparrow cult may be more difficult to handle, and the ATF agent in charge has an ulterior motive... as does Dominic when the situation takes a turn for the worse. Meanwhile, Agent Ballard continues his relentless quest to look for Echo while his neighbor, Mellie, continues to harbor a crush on him. Also, Topher and Dr. Saunders monitor Victor when he begins exhibiting primordial behavior whenever he's around Sierra.

Echo becomes a thief so she can perform a dangerous art heist. Meanwhile, Ballard challenges Lubov, and Adelle makes a disturbing confession.

Pop star Rayna is in need of protection due to death threats, so Echo is programmed as a backup singer/bodyguard for her. Sierra serves as additional protection. Paul's investigation into the Dollhouse might cost him his life.

A man requests Echo as his companion on a camping trip, but his true intentions are far more deadly.

Echo is one of the "Actives" in the elite and illegal Dollhouse. Through different personality downloads, she plays the role of a lovestruck girl on a romantic weekend, and then a ruthlessly efficient kidnapping negotiator. 'Meanwhile, FBI Agent Paul Ballard is struggling with his assignment to uncover information on the Dollhouse. The chase has destroyed his marriage and is wrecking his career, and it doesn't seem that he'll stop until he uncovers the truth.

In Episode 0.5 of Active Architecture the crew debates what could have been if the original, unaired pilot Echo was the jumping off point for Dollhouse.
