When you think of the word “confession,” what emotions and thoughts stir in your heart and mind? Confession, like other spiritual disciplines can become misunderstood and misconstrued and seen more as a burden than a gift, something to be feared rather than celebrated and embraced. Listen in as we take a deeper look at the spiritual discipline of confession; an invitation to allow it to truly be the gift that it is meant to be.

Good customer service. Companies thrive when they place a high value on serving their customers. It also requires a heart to be humble, assist, and provide the necessary level of presence to make sure a customer feels valued and known. In John 13, Jesus demonstrates a level of servanthood to his disciples that was unprecedented and then He challenged them to follow His example and do the same. In this sermon, we will examine the spiritual discipline of service and look at why Jesus is calling us to live a life of service. Mother’s Day is a day of celebration, honor and love for the women in our lives who have nurtured, supported and cared for us physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Mother’s Day is also a day full of reminders of unfulfilled dreams, fractured or absent relationships and grief and loss. Jesus understands the heartache that comes with motherhood. In his final act of love and care for his own grieving mother as he hung on the cross, he looked at the disciple John and declared that he would now be her son and she would be his mother. John 19:27 says, “And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home.” 1 Peter 1:3-9 reminds us that though we may experience various trials, we can walk in his joy because of the blessed hope we have in our resurrected Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, the one who comforts us in all of our troubles. The first Sunday of every month, our church observes the Lord’s Supper; we take communion together as a congregation. Most of those Sundays, it’s inserted as a part of the worship service but for this service, join us for a whole service where we participate in this church ordinance through special music, message, and practice. Children can listen to the same story again and again and be just as fascinated the 50th time as they were the 1st. They retell stories during their play times. They live out life through the stories they’ve been told. Stories are what we use to make sense of the world around us. But what if our stories are partial stories, incomplete stories, broken stories? How would God change a broken story into a new story? Listen to the story of Jesus and Lazarus, and hear how God uses a holy disruption to tell a new story. Read John 11:1-45 to prepare.

Not everyone within the borders of a country is a true and loyal citizen. The same can be true within the church. The Bible teaches that Christians are citizens of heaven, which means that we must learn not only how to speak with heavenly words, but also to walk in a heavenly way.
