Welcome to our bonus podcast for the week! We've decided to give it a go spacing out our main and bonus episodes after it seemed to go down well splitting them up during the Euros. Although we can't guarantee which day the bonus podcast will be out each week because of our own schedules, it's likely to be either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday for the time being, with the main Street Talk episode out every Saturday as usual. Let's see how it goes! This podcast (which we actually recorded a couple of weeks ago, so sorry if any of the references aren't quite up to date!) we chat about the episodes we've been watching on our DVDs from between 1995 and 1999. This is the era that Corrie saw a big shift in tone as well as a bit of an overhaul of the cast. Out went the likes of Bet, Raquel, Derek and Percy, and in came the Battersbys, the Mallets and fan favourites Roy and Hayley. For this week's bonus podcast, we thought we'd jump on the royal bandwagon following today's visit to the cobbles by the Queen. After chatting about what went on during her tour of the Street, we take a look back at previous times that Corrie has been graced by royalty, including when the Queen opened the set on Quay Street in 1982 and when Prince Charles showed up to shake Audrey's hand in the 40th anniversary episode. As well as this, we chat about the time the show allegedly got a royal rap on the knuckles by mentioning Prince Philip's name on air, explain why Vera Duckworth was so convinced she had blue blood, and remember when Alf Roberts got his OBE at the palace - and why Audrey had to get down there to see it by hitch-hiking!

In our latest episode of the podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street released on the ITV Hub on the 5th July, and set for broadcast on TV between the 5th and the 9th. This week was all about characters getting their claws into their man at all costs, with both Daisy and Todd resorting to devious means to get what they want. They're not the only ones with men issues either, as Izzy's got a mystery house guest who gets tongues a-wagging at the factory. The rumour mill is on Fiz's mind too as she urges Tyrone to fess up to the girls about Alina's big news, and Gail is set to put it all behind her as she heads off to Thailand. This week's bonus podcast is a character profile revisit of birthday girl Leanne Battersby, who we first profiled way back in Episode #20 of Conversation Street. Since then, she's faced drama upon drama, including suffering abuse from son Simon and of course, the tragedy of Oli's death last year. In this episode, we look back on everything Leanne's been up to since 2012, and chat about the up and down relationship that we as a podcast have had with the character over the past nine years.

On our latest podcast, we have a bit of a natter about the episodes of Corrie released on the ITV Hub on Monday 28th June, and set for broadcast on TV between the 29th June and the 2nd July. We've pretty much reached the halfway point of another year, and in this episode of the podcast, we take a look at the first six months of 2021 on Corrie and chat about how it's all going. With the end of 2020 marking the climax of the long-running coercive control story as well as the tragic but inevitable death of Oliver Battersby, we started the year excited to see what direction our favourite characters would go in next. A massive story for the Corrie teens was promised, which turned out to be the compelling drama of the attack on Nina and Seb, the repercussions of which promise to continue well into the second half of the year. 2021 also teased the return of a legacy character from Rita's past, and we certainly 'ad it when Sharon Bentley rocked up on the Street, looking for trouble. In this week's bonus podcast, we answer another pair of questions sent in by listeners. First off, Jon wants to know which characters from the 60s and 70s we think would fit right into modern Corrie.  Not an easy task, that one, but we think we found a few who'd slot right in without changing too much about their personality or style! On this week's episode of the podcast, we prattle on about the goings on in Weatherfield between the 7th and the 11th June (Episodes #10344 - 10349). This week, romance is in the air for Dev and his unlikely new conquest, Bernie. We must say, despite some initial reservations about the prospect of the two of them getting together, we did quite enjoy them sneaking around on Wednesday, and Bernie's face when she tiptoed down the stairs was a picture. Speaking of pictures, what about that photo of Tyrone and Alina, eh? Utterly cringeworthy, but a great opportunity for some funny scenes in the flat! In this week's bonus podcast, we're living the life of Riley as we take a look at the story of one of Corrie's most beloved characters from days gone by, dithery newsagent Mavis. With Faye and Harvey currently detained at her majesty's pleasure and Johnny freshly released, this week's bonus podcast focuses on the times when Corrie has gone behind bars.  For such a small community, Coronation Street has had a fair few of its residents banged up over the years - from the miscarriages of justice like Deirdre's time inside in 1998 to the well deserved sentences like Tracy's somewhat short stay in the slammer when she murdered Charlie Stubbs. We chat about these stories and more, discussing our favourites, what makes a classic soap prison plot, and pondering which characters may well end up doing porridge in the years to come.

Tanisha Gorey has become one of Corrie's rising young stars over the past few years, bringing the previously minor character of Asha Alahan right into the spotlight thanks to some fantastic performances in stories revolving around issues including skin lightening, sexting and now Seb's murder. For this week's bonus podcast, we're running a classic character profile on Tricia Armstrong. Actress Tracy Brabin has just this week been elected Mayor of West Yorkshire, so we thought we'd take the chance to chat about the character she played on Corrie in the mid-90s, having a look at how the struggles she went through on her three years on the show reflected many of the issues faced by single working mothers at the time.

There'd been rumblings and rumours for a fair few months that something big was going to go down with the Street's younger residents, and this week saw Seb and Nina set upon by Corey and his mates in scenes that echoed the vicious attack on Sophie Lancaster in Salford in 2007. For our bonus podcast this week, we do a character profile of Seb Franklin. Arriving on the Street back in 2016 as the scallywag boyfriend of Faye Windass, Seb soon took to the hearts of many a Corrie viewer after the reveal of his tough home life. A key player in the downfall of Pat Phelan, an initial suspect in the Underworld roof collapse and the hero who rescued Alina from slavery, Seb's had quite an eventful time on the cobbles, but it's surely his most recent story, in which he's violently attacked whilst walking home, that he'll ultimately be remembered.
