  • 172: HOF tackle Walter Jones interview, another slow start for the offense, Seahawks to retire Easley's number on Sunday

    28/09/2017 Duration: 01h22min

Hall of Fame offensive lineman Walter Jones joins the show this week to offer his thoughts on the Seahawks game with the Tennessee Titans and the team as the whole through the first few weeks in the season. He talks about FanCom, a new service coming online this weekend to allow fans to interact with NFL greats. Before the interview Adam and Brandan discuss what happened in the game against the Titans, what the team needs to do to get back on track and the reason why our offensive coordinator has difficultly calling a game before the last couple minutes of the first half. For the first time this year, fans had reason to be concerned about the defense, but there is a comparison to last year that should tell us that everything will be fine. Seattle returns home to take on the Indianapolis Colts who defeated the Browns last week. Andrew Luck is out, but their other quarterback seems to have a finger firmly in control of the circle button. Kenny Easley will have his jersey number retired at the game this weekend,

  • 171: Chris Carson flashes in victory over 49ers, Seahawks LOB vs Titans Exotic Smashmouth, and Sam Gold of NFLbreakdowns.com

    20/09/2017 Duration: 01h33min

The Seattle Seahawks have eight straight wins in their home opener in the Pete Carroll era, eight straight wins over the 49ers, and we've enduring eight straight quarters of football that has been difficult to watch in terms of the offense. While the issue seemed clear last week, it seems as though there's more to be concerned about after the latest win. But are we as down on the team this week if two players don't drop touchdown catches? Would we be as concerned if Carlos Hyde didn't break two big runs on the defense? Adam and Brandan sort through where some of the real concerns are and if this is just something that's normal for the start of a Seahawks season. Apart from the two long runs, the defense stifled the 49ers offense and held Brian Hoyer under 100 yards passing. They almost added a safety, but the refs ruled that Hoyer's "forward progress" kept him out of the end zone. Brandan talks about the "rule snobs" that come out on Twitter when you show any weakness in knowing the NFL rule book. The guys lo

  • 170: Pete Carroll's defense shines even in a losing effort, Rawls is back vs 49ers, and Michael Bennett's incident in Vegas

    14/09/2017 Duration: 01h41min

Seattle drops its first game of the 2017 season after going into Lambeau Field and losing 17-9 to the Green Bay Packers. Despite the Seahawks remaining winless there since 1999, fans had a lot of reason for optimism after seeing how the defense performed against one of the league's top teams and top quarterback. The Seahawks defense nearly got the team its first points on an Aaron Rodgers interception by rookie Naz Jones. But the play was called back because of a pair of penalties, one that got Jeremy Lane ejected from the game less than 10 defensive snaps into the game. The ejection gave Pete Carroll and the Seahawks an long look at rookie Shaquille Griffin and slot corner Justin Coleman. Both seemed to complement a squad stacked with Pro Bowl defenders. Former Jets defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson played like the interior defender the Seahawks have been looking for. The guys talk about the historic defense Pete Carroll grew up watching and how that might play a role in his continued pursuit toward produ

  • 169: Sheldon Richardson joins a stacked d-line, Packers preview, and a Jermaine Kearse tribute

    07/09/2017 Duration: 01h52min

During last week's show, Adam and Brandan talked about how John Schneider would look at talent across the league to make some additions. In turns out that he wanted to make a much bigger splash than the usual additions of some fringe players on the roster. The Seahawks send Jermaine Kearse and a second round pick to the New York Jets for Pro Bowl defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson. This brings in the caliber of player Seattle has been looking for in the middle of their defense since Coach Carroll arrived. That wasn't the only trade that went down prior to solidifying the 53-man roster as Cassius Marsh was dealt to the Patriots. The guys talk about the chess match that must have been going on between the two GMs in that deal. The cuts of Pierre Desir and Kasen Williams may have been the two most disappointing cuts, but it's important to not lose perspective on the relative impact those players may have had on the final roster. Looking ahead to the matchup with the Packers in Week 1, Adam talks about how crit

  • 168: Russell Wilson continues preseason domination with Odhiambo at left tackle, decisions ahead with the 53-man roster

    29/08/2017 Duration: 01h51min

The Seahawks pick up another preseason victory, 26-13 over the Kansas City Chiefs, as the Legion of Boom holds Alex Smith under 50 yards and the offense to only 3 points. Russell Wilson has looked incredible as he dials in his game this pre-season. Explosive plays to Jermaine Kearse, Chris Carson and Jimmy Graham were a big part of his 200-yard effort. Part of the reason for his success was the fact that he was given time to throw behind an offensive line that, now with Rees Odhiambo at left tackle, looks like it may not have been impacted by the injury to George Fant. Despite Procise and Rawls sitting out another preseason game, the running game impressed with Eddie Lacy and Chris Carson. The guys talk about what that means for Alex Collins and some of the other backs on the roster. With most of the starters likely sitting out against the Raiders this week, Adam and Brandan look ahead to that game with the idea of who they want to see to help make some of the tough decisions with the 53-man roster.  They als

  • 167: Doug Baldwin and Russell Wilson look set for big season, how Fant's injury impacts the Seahawks o-line plans

    23/08/2017 Duration: 01h36min

The Seahawks pick up another preseason victory after a 20-13 win over the Minnesota Vikings. Russell Wilson and Doug Baldwin looked like they were already in midseason form as they put on a show in front of the home crowd. Russell Wilson threw for two touchdowns and the Seattle defense held the Vikings first-team offense to a couple field goals. Kasen Williams had another score and appears to have locked up a job on this team in the eyes of most fans. At running back the guys talk about the potential three-man race for the final spot on the roster and who is currently in the lead. The guys talk about which of the 2017 rookies are really standing out and which ones could play a significant role come Week 1. Pete Carroll's philosophy of letting a younger and more inexperience player crack the starting lineup could mean that guys like Ethan Pocic, Nazair Jones and Shaq Griffin can be contributors right away. With two preseason games down, Brandan is noticing that his feelings on two of the free agent acquisition

  • 166: Seahawks showcase depth as 2nd team puts up big numbers in their first preseason game

    16/08/2017 Duration: 01h24min

The starters played just one drive against the Los Angeles Chargers this weekend, but the story of the game was showcasing the depth of talent the Seahawks have this season. The 2nd team offense, helped by turnovers created by the 2nd team defense, put up 31 points before halftime. The Chargers were shut out in the second half to give Seattle the 48-17 victory. Brandan and Adam get into some of the standout performances, Adam reminds everyone "he told you so" when it comes to Boykin's ability to fill in behind Russell Wilson, and they discuss their reasons for optimism with the offensive line. Brandan already feels like he may have a preseason crush on a running back. Jessamyn McIntyre, executive producer at 710 ESPN in Seattle, joins the show to talk about her takeaways from the first preseason game. She says this is the type of game to give the team its swagger back and talks about her impressions of the Seahawks rookie cornerback Shaq Griffin. While the offensive line looked good, it's still tough to draw

  • 165: 2017 expectations, former long snapper Clint Gresham talks about his new book, Easley inducted into the HOF

    10/08/2017 Duration: 01h38min

We're celebrating a full four years of the Sea Hawkers Podcast this week, and we have a former Super Bowl Champion long snapper coming on the show to help celebrate this week. Clint Gresham has a new book coming out called, Becoming: Loving the Process to Wholeness. He talks about some of the events that inspired him to write the book and he's still ready to play if he's called on to return to the team. Outside of the interview, Clint tells us that there's a portion of the book the team wasn't comfortable with helping to promote. Before we get to the interview, the guys talk about their expectations for the 2017 Seattle Seahawks as they go into their first preseason game this weekend against the Los Angeles Chargers. While they both expect the run game to improve, Brandan thinks it will lead to some big numbers in the passing game. While Adam expects the defense to return to form and once again lead the NFL in scoring defense, Brandan expects a former All-Pro player to drop from that level. The guys also get

  • 164: Training camp opens w/contract for Kam, camp battles, and Seahawks top pick injured in accident

    03/08/2017 Duration: 01h44min

Seahawks training camp is underway and Brandan and Adam are jacked up and ready to go for the 2017 season. Another guy who should be fired up for the season is Kam Chancellor who just signed a three-year extension to help ensure he's with the team for another four seasons and potentially retire as a member of the Seahawks. The guys break down what Chancellor has meant to the club over the past years, some of the moments where he's changed games, and why the role he plays with the team is so important. Not only is Kam back and ready, other members of the Legion of Boom are standing out including Earl Thomas as well as early reports of Jeremy Lane making strides to securing the cornerback spot opposite Richard Sherman. Not all news is good though. Camp starts without the Seahawk top pick in town after an reported ATV injury kept Malik McDowell from reporting on time. Questions still remain over the extent of his injuries. The guys talk about the latest with the offensive line through the first couple days as Ad

  • 163: Know Your Rival – Arizona Cardinals w/former Cardinals cheerleader Samantha Sanders

    26/07/2017 Duration: 59min

The Know Your Rivals series continues and Samantha Sanders, a former Arizona Cardinals cheerleader from 2011-2012, joins the show to talk about her expectations for the Cards in the 2017 season. With an aging Carson Palmer and the top two receivers under contract, the guys ask her about the direction of the team in the future and where she feels the strength of the Cardinals will be. Samantha also talks about her current effort with the Science Cheerleaders and how the group promotes education and employment in the STEM fields. In the second half of the show, Adam and Brandan take a look at the league's offensive lineman. They find that not only do the Seahawks have the lowest cap number for the offensive line, the Seahawks have the fewest number of lineman on the roster of any NFL team. An email prompts a discussion on the potential for Darelle Revis to join the Seahawks and start the season across from Richard Sherman. Brandan offers some details in Revis' contract that makes signing the veteran to a low-co

  • 162: Know Your Rival - San Francisco 49ers w/Oscar of the Better Rivals Podcast

    17/07/2017 Duration: 01h37min

Rivals Month continues this week with Oscar from the Better Rivals Podcast as we take a look at the offseason for the San Francisco 49ers. Is this team back on track to become the rivalry that it once was? The guys kick off the discussion by talking about a seriously embarrassing move by the team in deciding who they were going to pick to lead the franchise going forward. Despite the coaching changes, there aren't high hopes that the 49ers will challenge for the NFC West title this year, but hope seems to be on the horizon with a change in the team's scheme and a philosophy for acquiring players that many Seahawks fans will recognize. Oscar says a big reason for concern in San Francisco this season is the team's offensive line. His complaints about the ranking of his team's offensive line doesn't go over well. On a positive note, Michael Bennett commented recently on a 49ers defensive lineman who he believes could be a future candidate for Defensive Player of the Year. After the interview, we get into some Ru

  • 161: Know Your Rival - Los Angeles Rams w/James and Bear of the Rams Podcast

    10/07/2017 Duration: 01h21min

With very little news about the team this past week, apart from Russell Wilson's diet and announcement regarding his passing academy, we launch into "Rivals Month." Kicking of the series is the Rams Podcast with James and Bear. The guys get into the latest All of Nothing series launched recently and Brandan talks about some of the more interesting highlights and surprises from the series. **Note: Please go to seahawkerspodcast.com/vote and put us in the finals for the 12th Annual Podcast Awards.  Just one season after moving to Los Angeles, a lot is changing with the Rams this year. Jeff Fisher is out and now they have the youngest coach in the league. Who is Sean McVay and does he have the vision it takes to build a winning football franchise? Some of his latest moves seem to suggest he does, and he also decided to keep around a coach who has helped burn the Seahawks more than once. As far as predictions for the season, Adam gets into why he believes the Rams might earn the second-best record in the division

  • 160: Making the case for a 16-0 Seahawks season, early 53-man roster predictions, and problems with the NFL list season

    29/06/2017 Duration: 01h18min

What needs to go right for the Seahawks to have a perfect season? It's so difficult that it's only ever happened four times in the entire history of the NFL, even when you include the pre-Super Bowl era teams. But, because it's the offseason and it's show 160,  errr 16-0, it made entirely too much sense not to bring up the possibility and the challenges the team would have to overcome. Ross Bell from the Pedestrian Podcast joins the show to talk about his "way too early" 53-man roster projection. The guys talk about how predicting a starting lineup for the Seahawks is incredibly difficult when you have coaches willing to make some unpredictable moves in past seasons. Also, with the flood of new linebackers in the offseason, Ross thinks he has it narrowed to just two new names you'll really need to know going into the season. In the second half of the show, the guys talk about some of the latest news, as the Bennett brothers have been recognized for their off-field work with a recent award. A top member of the

  • 159: Thomas Rawls storms the depth chart, Sherman sets the story straight, and another visit to Prisco's World

    22/06/2017 Duration: 01h48min

OTAs have wrapped up, the Seahawks mandatory minicamp is over, and now we get into a dark period of a couple weeks before training camp starts. The good news is the season is just around the corner! So far news about the heath of players has been positive as well and nobody sounds more excited than Thomas Rawls. Rawls is so excited, he feels like he needs to take up more than one spot on the depth chart. Adam and Brandan discuss why we fans should remember what had us so excited about Thomas Rawls as the team's #1 running back. The guys take a look at what has Coach Carroll fired up coming out of minicamp and his thoughts on the offensive line, Jimmy Graham and the guy who sounds like has the edge coming into training camp to take over the cornerback spot opposite Richard Sherman. Pete isn't the only coach fired up, in fact, Tom Cable says he's the most excited coach on the team. The NFL Network's Top 100 is nearing a conclusion. All the Seahawks on the list have been named, and there are a couple players who

  • 158: Sunshine and rainbows at OTAs, the drama the ESPN article missed, and the Seahawks pass on Kap

    09/06/2017 Duration: 01h34min

The guys kick off the show this week by talking about some of the news coming out of OTAs, and the very different kinds of stories fans are hearing from the local media vs the kinds of stories fans are getting from the national media. In OTAs, it's a lot of sunshine and rainbows particularly when it comes to George Fant and the improvements he's made over the offseason. On NFL Network they've now made it through 70 of the top 100 players and we expect three Seahawks to show up on the list in the coming weeks. Adam and Brandan run down where guys fell out on the list to this point. The highest ranking player on the list so far is entering the final year of his contract and Michael Bennett is lobbying for him to get a new deal. The ESPN article that was discussed on last week's show continues to make headlines, because now local reporters can ask players about their opinion on it while the players go through OTAs. One of the more shocking revelations is that some guys still aren't over the Super Bowl loss. Do t

  • 157: Remembering Cortez Kennedy w/former Seahawks DB Nesby Glasgow, ESPN writer pits Sherman vs Wilson

    30/05/2017 Duration: 01h36min

Incredibly sad news this past week as we learned of the passing of Seahawks Hall of Fame defensive tackle Cortez Kennedy. Kennedy passed away at the age of 48. Adam and Brandan bring on former Seahawks defensive back Nesby Glasgow to talk about his memories of Tez as well as his memories of finishing off his career in a Seahawks uniform. In other Seahawks news from the past week, Colin Kaepernick made a visit to Seattle in addition to another backup prospect Austin Davis. Is it time we start, at the very least, considering the idea that Kap may be the Seahawks backup quarterback? Michael Bennett had Kapernick's back this past week and his support found him in a Twitter war with Stephen A. Smith. That wasn't the only fight he got into with a highly opinionated member of the media as Matt Calkins of the Seattle Times took some shots at him, which Bennett responded by advocating a boycott of the local newspaper. Bennett also called an article by Seth Wickersham of ESPN "trash," after the reporter clearly went ou

  • 156: Clickbait, rookie minicamp, Seahawks numerology, and the 'perfect backup' QB for Seattle

    22/05/2017 Duration: 01h49min

Introducing a new segment for the show this week as the guys break open some of the recent clickbait headlines with a parody jingle that we hope you enjoy. In real news, Tom Cable went on the radio recently and got the Luke Joekel hype train rolling, so the guys talk about what that could mean for the left side of the offensive line. Rookie minicamp took place recently and we bring in the audio that stood out to us from each of the players along with each player's new number. We recognize some of the players from the past who wore the same number. News this week made it sound like Colin Kaepernick would be the perfect backup quarterback for the Seahawks, however we're missing one key piece of information about how much Kaep would be willing to play for. For some reason a lot of people are assuming he's going to take close to the veteran minimum. If he were to come to the Seahawks, the team doesn't have much more room for that under their cap. Jason Cole uses a statement from Michael Bennett to re-hash and old

  • 155: Expectations for the Seahawks draft class, our inaugural All-Seahawks Team vote, Legion of Boom 2.0

    14/05/2017 Duration: 01h19min

With the 2017 Draft now behind us, the guys reveal which player in particular they are most excited about. They also talk offensive line as Pete Carroll and Tom Cable were interviewed in the past couple weeks and offered up the positions where they expect each guy to compete. Chances are that Seahawks fans will see a drastically different line than in 2016, apart from Justin Britt at center. The guys announce the opening of voting for the Sea Hawkers Podcast Inaugural All-Seahawks Team. In the coming weeks, we'll take a look at the individual players who take the top honors. It's been a while, so they guys decide to take a trip to Prisco's World, and it doesn't look the same. Reports were that the Seahawks would have been interested in drafting a particular quarterback at the end of the first round, and Prisco wasn't buying it. With Marshawn Lynch now a member of the Oakland Raiders, the guys talk about how different it feels and how it relates to past relationships. Thanks to Bekah, Adam has a microphone tha

  • 154: The Seahawks 2017 draft class and how the team made history on day two

    02/05/2017 Duration: 01h25min

The silly season leading up to the draft is over and now we have 11 new members of the 2017 Seahawks draft class to discuss. Adam and Brandan kick off the discussion with a look at the overall philosophy of the team that emerges from this draft.  By taking three defensive backs in the first four rounds, it topped the number of DBs the Seahawks have  taken in those round over the entire Carroll/Schneider era. We talk about what this means for the team, and Adam explains why this strategy has him a bit irked. Getting into the players, the guys talk about the importance of getting guys "in the trenches" this offseason based on how the 2016 season ended. They clearly went out and addressed what were seen as the top needs for the team on the defensive line, offensive line and at defensive back, but it did create some new questions particularly on the offensive line. Of the latest players, the guys are most excited about the potential of Malik McDowell, Shaquill Griffin, Nazair Jones and Tedrick Thompson, but will

  • 153: Seahawks draft predictions with Rob Staton, scouting QBs in the draft, and advanced 2017 schedule analytics

    26/04/2017 Duration: 01h42min

General manager John Schneider took to the podium this week and it now sounds like the media is finally getting the message that he's been stating consistently that Sherman isn't going anywhere unless the team gets the kind of value they want in return. Since Sherman hasn't been traded yet, it's safe to assume that hasn't and probably won't be happening. Marshawn Lynch apparently has a deadline to sign with the Raiders before the draft and the guys wonder what a true deadline for a Lynch signing really looks like. Other news items include the departure of Garry Gilliam and contract numbers for defensive lineman Dion Jordan. Rob Staton of seahawksdraftblog.com returns to the Sea Hawkers Podcast to make a prediction of who the Seahawks will take with their first pick. Considering the Seahawks have done little to bolster their defensive line in the offseason, Rob thinks that the first pick would be the way to get help there and he has a pass rusher in mind that the team will like based on some unique characteris
