Week 14 we look at how through the work of Jesus, the works of the devil have been defeated.

Week 13 of our Battle Grounds series, Justin shares that anything that undermines the all-sufficient work of Christ is demonic.

Topics covered from this night include: 1. Why do demons inhabit bodies? Why destroy, or attempt to destroy people? 2. If unforgiveness is an open door, how can we forgive others, especially if they are unwilling to reconcile? 3. Can we trust our English translations of the Bible?

We are in week 12 of our Battle Grounds series and we are learning that following wisdom that is opposed to God is to follow wisdom that is offered by demons.

Week 11 in our Battle Grounds series we see how, anger left to simmer can give the devil a place to enter.   DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:  1. Should a believer be concerned about being demonized? Why or why not?  2. Is there an appropriate time for a believer in Jesus to be angry? If so, when and why?  3. Paul cautioned about not becoming sinful when anger. What might it look like for anger to become sinful?  4. What limitation does Paul give to help prevent anger from becoming sinful? Do you think Paul means this literally?  5. What might it look like to give the devil a place/foothold/opportunity?

Russ shares how we are to "seek first the Kingdom of God" and how God is to be our greatest treasure.

Week 10 of our Battle Grounds series, we see how spiritual warfare includes destroying systems of thought that oppose God.   DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:   1. According to 2 Corinthians 10:3-6 in which realm is the battle that Paul (believers) wage war?   2. Paul talked about he waged war and he used the image of ancient siege warfare to describe it. What are the three stages of siege warfare that he described?   3. What are the strongholds that Paul says he destroys with his weapons of warfare?   4. What do these strongholds look like today in our lives?   5. How do we go about destroying these strongholds?   6. Why might strongholds be a spiritual warfare issue rather than “just a mental health” issue?

Week 9 of Battle Grounds we look at how when we participate in worship of other gods, we participate with demons. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS: 1. Have you ever been around an idol? What did you think about that idol? 2. What does Paul (and Moses in Deuteronomy 32) teach us about the reality of idols and the so called “gods” they represent? Are idols and the gods they represent real? Does Paul believe there is an real spiritual being behind the idols? 3. If there is not other gods beside the one true God, and yet there are real spiritual beings behind the idols/false gods, what are those spiritual beings? 4. Paul teaches that to participate in worship of other gods is to get entangled with demons? How might this look? 5. What are some ways that we might participate in worship of idols?

Some topics discussed: How do you pray for "this kind" of demon that Jesus talked about in Mark 9? Do demonized people know they are demonized? Can Christians be demonized? Can any Christian cast out demons? God's sovereignty in creating and permitting Satan to work evil Some 1 Enoch and theories of the origin of demons

As we continue in our Battle Grounds series, we learn that sometimes healing from God requires deliverance from demons. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS: 1. Do you know someone who has a sickness or disability that they can’t seem to find a remedy for? 2. A POSSIBLE category for sickness/disability is demonization. What do you think about that? 3. What are other possible categories for sickness/disabilities? 4. What was the remedy for the woman’s disability in this passage? Do you believe that remedy is still available today? 5. What are some reasons we might miss seeing the healing/deliverance of God even though it happens right in front of us? 6. What should be our response to God’s deliverance and healing in our life, or other’s lives?

Week 7 of our Battle Grounds series, we look at how demons can impact us in physical ways but Jesus can deliver us from the impact of demons. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS: 1. Have you ever encountered someone you though might have an evil spirit? What did that look like? What are the various ways that the unclean spirit affects the young boy in these verses? 2. Have you considered that an evil spirit can have physical effects on a person? 3. If you were to see the type of physical effects in a person that you see in these verses, what might you call it? 4. According to Jesus what is the reason that disciples could not cast out this demon? (compare Mark’s version with Matthew 17:19) 5. Do you believe that a believer in Jesus can cast out a demon? What does Jesus tell the man is the key to the demon being cast out (v. 23)? 6. How did Jesus approach the casting out the demon from the young boy? 7. In v. 29 Jesus mentions “this kind” of demon. What do we learn about delivering people who have an evil spirit from this ve

In week 6 of our Battle Grounds series, we look at how Occult practices are influenced by demons, and to participate in them is to forsake God.  DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:  1. What does “occult” mean?  2. What are some of the practices that are considered part of the occult?  3. Have you had any experiences with any of these practices (or any like them)?  4. Do you think these things are even real? Is there really any power in them?  5. In Deuteronomy 18:9-14 we are told that the things listed there are an abomination to the Lord and that God’s people must not participate in them…why?  6. We saw in Deuteronomy 32:15-18 that the occult practices are influenced by, and are worship of demons. Why would demons influence such things?  Note: If we have participated in such things, we must repent, and we may need to be prayed for if we have opened ourselves up to some kind of demonic influence.

Battle Grounds week 5, we see there are spiritual beings ruining over nations who influence rebellion against God... but Christ is greater.

Battle Grounds Week 4, we get introduced to other spiritual beings who have rebelled against their Creator, and begin looking at how these being interact with humanity

We continue in our Battle Grounds series and see that, we resist the devil by having a firm faith in our God.

Week two of Battle Grounds, we look at how the Devil rebelled against God, and he attempts to lead others to rebel against God.

As we begin our new series, Battle Grounds, we look at three key points this week; People either belong to God, or are under the power of Satan. Satan has power to blind the minds of non-believers to the gospel. God must extend grace to open the eyes of non-believers.
