  • Habit 17 | Quitting sugar

    12/08/2018 Duration: 11min

There's a slew of evidence out there to show that not only is sugar bad for us, but it's also addictive. The fact it tastes the delicious and serves as the flavour cornerstone of most of the food we eat makes it hard to avoid, even with the best of intentions, but when Ian Marber was on this podcast he said that if you want to stop eating sugar, it's really simple - you stop eating sugar. With that in mind, I'm going to look away from all the scary statistics out there there essentially show how sugar is rotting my mind, body and spirit from the inside-out and just concentrate on not putting it in my mouth. Added sugar can take a hike, these next two weeks are going to be all about steering clear of all refined sugars and carbohydrates. The Daily Recommended Allowance (RDA) for sugar in the UK is 30g, which is roughly equivalent to seven sugar cubes. • Habit 16 | Is a two week spending freeze doable?

    29/07/2018 Duration: 10min

This habit is inspired by comments in the Facebook Group for the show and it's all about how feasible it is to do a spending freeze. Unless it's essential - food, water, rent etc - then the money stays in the account or in the pocket.According to one report all these cashless transactions we're used to means we're spending way more than we actually intend to, sometimes up to three times more, and those are expenses that can really build up. So what I'm going to do for two weeks is keep my purse closed and see what I realise I do need to spend money on and what I absolutely don't. It also means I'll have to prepare lunches, coffees and the like because grabbing one when I'm out and about is completely off-limits. Yikes, I'm nervous...To join the closed Facebook group for the podcast click here >> The Emma Guns Show Forum. To follow me on social media >> Twitter | Instagram. For the entire #26habits back catalogue visit The Pool.
