On the show, we highlight activities that are happening around the parishes each week as well as interview individuals involved in doing Gods work locally. Matava, an Associate Professor and Dean of the Graduate School of Theology at Christendom College in Front Royal, Virginia, about the Christendom Project, a great opportunity for students at different universities to gain a new appreciation for their faith while working toward a potential degree in theology at Christendom. Christendom is a small, Catholic, liberal arts college in the Shenandoah River Valley of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia. Dr. Matava said what makes Christendom College unique is “its dedication to the Catholic Faith and educating people in accordance with the Magisterium.” The Christendom project is designed specifically for undergraduate students at public or private universities. Students can take livestream courses from anywhere in the country. These are for-credit courses requiring class work and payment of tuition per credit hour. Paul-Michael is a Texas A&M graduate and is one of two new associate pastors at St. Mary’s Catholic Center in College Station. The first part of the show, Pam talked about St. Martha, as the day's Gospel reading was from Matthew where Lazarus died and Martha boldly said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died!” In the second half of the show, Fr. Paul told his story about becoming a priest. He talked about what a powerful impact St. Mary’s Catholic Center had on him when he was a student at Texas A&M and how God used his time here to discern his vocation to the priesthood.

Robin talked about his journey to the Catholic Faith, his faith in God that has strengthened him through his life experiences, and his calling to the diaconate. He was raised in a loosely Baptist home and started to learn about the Catholic Faith through his then girlfriend, and now wife, Carolyn. Although he didn’t see many differences between Catholicism and Protestantism at first, once Robin and Carolyn were engaged, he decided to join the Church despite his questions and was received at the Easter Vigil of 1982. Robin spoke candidly about his oldest son's 10-year battle with leukemia and eventual death. He now sees God was working in his family’s life the whole time. Sebastian Walshe, a Norbertine Priest from St. Michael’s Abbey in Orange, California, was on to talk about his new book, Secrets from Heaven: Hidden Treasures of Faith in the Parables and Conversations of Jesus. Fr. Sebastian was raised in a mixed-religion family, his father being a non-practicing Catholic, and his mother a Jew, until she had a conversion to the Lutheran Church. Fr. Sebastian mentioned the three main objections to the truth of scripture that he writes about in his book: 1) the scriptures contradict modern science, 2) the scriptures contradict themselves, and 3) the authors of scripture were biased, and he addressed the third objection in this interview, refuting it with multiple examples. 164 Building the Pro-Life Movement: Elle Staniszewski
24/04/2020 Duration: 57minOn Wednesday April 22, Judy Comeaux spoke with Elle Staniszewski of the Pro-Life Waco, about the impact of “blessing bags.” Elle serves as a sidewalk counselor outside of Planned Parenthood, and hands out blessing bags to women heading into or out of the clinic. These blessing bags are filled with love as a way to reach out to the women and, hopefully, prevent them from following through with an abortion. On the outside of the blessing bags there are coupons for free health care such as pregnancy tests, STD tests, ultrasounds, etc. Inside, the bags hold a choices brochure, letting the women know that they have options other than abortion, a little red glass heart for them to hold as a source of comfort and love, hand sanitizer, nail polish, and many other thoughtful goodies. Ryan talked about his experience as a priest at different Catholic churches and schools. He has been at St. Joseph in Bryan, St. Mary’s in College Station, and is now the pastor at St. Louis in Waco. The parochial school—a Catholic school under the care and administration of a parish—is a particular feature of Catholic life in the United States from about the 1880s onward. Recently, Fr. Ryan assumed the job of administering both a parochial grade school and a high school. He has drawn on his own experience with Catholic education to guide him in this new role.
