On the show, we highlight activities that are happening around the parishes each week as well as interview individuals involved in doing Gods work locally. In addition, we also discuss current events that impact all Catholics.

153 Mark Brumley: The Day is Now Far Spent
14/02/2020 Duration: 57minOn Wednesday, January 29, Mark Brumley, editor-in-chief of Ignatius Press, was on the show to talk about The Day is Now Far Spent, the last installment in a trilogy of books by Robert Cardinal Sarah. (The preceding books were God or Nothing and The Power of Silence). Mark talked about how the title of this third book comes from the scripture where the disciples were on the road to Emmaus and Jesus was walking with them, but they did not realize it was Jesus who was with them all along until they retired for the evening. The basic point behind the book stems from that scripture and speaks about how in some ways the Church is entering into a “dark period of the evening or night”, but we shouldn’t be afraid because our Lord is always with us, even when we don’t realize it. The book also calls for renewal within the Church, and talks about how we should lean on God in that process. 152 Beth Cowles: The Holy Spirit

Mr. Olson served for over thirty years in the Directorate of Operations of the Central Intelligence Agency and is now a Professor of the Practice at the Bush School, where he teaches courses on intelligence and counterintelligence. He has a passion for counterintelligence, which is stopping foreign countries from stealing technology from the United States. One of the reasons he wrote the book, To Catch a Spy, is because he believes Americans aren’t truly aware of how badly we are being attacked by foreign intelligence services. He thinks Americans need to be informed about what’s going on so that we can work to form a solution, and he hopes that the book is a start to informing people about this issue of foreign intelligence. The battle of Lepanto was a naval engagement that took place on October 7, 1571 when a fleet of the Holy League arranged by Pope Pius V, defeated the fleet of the Ottoman Empire in the Gulf of Patras. The battle of Lepanto is responsible for giving us the Feast Day of Our Lady of the Rosary, originally called the Feast of Our Lady of Victory for the victory at Lepanto.
