  • Proverbs 12:22 RA His Delight

    05/09/2019 Duration: 07min

Proverbs in 365 Devotions Proverbs 12:22 Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are his delight. Faithful In Position Faithful In Practice His Delight Robin Aylor Abraham Lincoln made a clever discovery about human behavior… maybe it was something he discovered in his own nature… nevertheless here’s what he said: “No man has a good enough memory to be a successful liar” Lincoln was correct in his assessment, and from his words he was clearly against the practice of lying. But today Solomon is not merely showing us how to be a student of human behavior but rather something deeper… he is showing us the heart of God. Our text uses the word “abomination”… This is probably the harshest term I can think of to show dislike for something and yet it is how God feels about lying. Why is lying classed as so horrible of a thing to God? Well I believe, for one thing, lying is something that satan loves to do… and he is good at it. In John 8:44 Jesus said: "…When he lies, he speak

  • Proverbs 12:17 RA A True Witness With Honest Evidence

    29/08/2019 Duration: 05min

Proverbs 12:17 Whoever speaks the truth gives honest evidence, but a false witness utters deceit. A True Witness With Honest Evidence Robin Aylor If you’ve ever watched Cold Case Files or Forensic Files on TV or maybe FBI Files… Then you know that in a criminal investigation honest evidence is crucial. And there’s a lot more honest evidence than there used to be. With newer technology like laser ablation, magnetic fingerprinting, 3D facial reconstruction, or sequencing minute amounts of DNA someone left behind. Its good evidence that either refutes or confirms the accused story. In a similar way, honest evidence either conflicts or bears witness to a person’s claim to believe in Jesus. How many times have you heard “Jesus changed my life” from a person who’s lifestyle is still full of greed and gossip? There are many who claim to be a follower of Christ while they are actually only concerned about what is best for them in this life. For these, salvation is a kind of fire insurance that allows them to sta

  • Proverbs 12:16 DC Ignoring An Insult

    29/08/2019 Duration: 02min

Proverbs 12:16 The vexation of a fool is known at once, but the prudent ignores an insult. Daniel Castor Sometimes people wear their emotions right on their sleeves. And it’s not always pretty. A child who crosses his arms and stops his feet as he huffs and puffs to his room. Or a grown man who gets into an argument with his wife and slams the door as he leaves the room. What about and angry driver who lays on the horn in traffic when someone cuts him off. We may laugh at these examples but the truth is, we all have our own ways of letting people know when we are angry or upset. Red in the face or shouting out loud... A sarcastic voice or an eye roll here or there... We all have our go to’s when we are angry and we can call them what we want. But you know what proverbs 12:16 calls them. FOOLISH! Fits of anger. Lashing out with no self control. Speaking without Thinking. Letting out all the anger at once with no regard for how it might hurt others. Foolish. I’m ashamed to say that I struggle with thi

  • Proverbs 11:28 BC A Green Leaf

    29/08/2019 Duration: 03min

Proverbs 11:28 BC A Green Leaf Once upon a time, in an enchanted forest, there was a beautiful tree. It was the largest one in the land with big bushy branches and bright green leaves. But the magical part was that each leaf could talk. Each with its own personality and thoughts. There was one leaf in particular who was more chatty than the rest. She would say things like ... “ I am so beautiful. My color is brighter than any other leaf here. Look at my pigment and veins. I am the most gorgeous leaf on this tree. Even the bugs come to admire me, but don’t dare bite. One day a huge wind came out of nowhere and this leaf was blown off her branch and on into the forest. Once she landed, she thought to herself... “ I’m fine. I was getting bored with those other leaves anyway. So quiet and ugly and rude. Now I get to travel and show everyone my beauty.” The leaf was blown by the wind every now and then or carried off somewhere by a critter some times. All the while thinking of how beautiful she was and how

Joy Joy Joy / robin aylor God makes promises for joy... The world makes promises for joy... It's true... God created us in a fashion so that we have the greatest joy possible when we find our satisfaction in him… He made us that way. And you see… he is the greatest and the best there is. And guess what… finding our satisfaction in him is exactly what glorifies him. That's what he wants for us… to find satisfaction in the best there is… Jesus Christ. You might say he wants us to be a Christian Hedonist by seeking the greatest joy possible by treasuring him for who he is. Here’s a couple scenarios: If someone’s job was to trade stocks for profit and they were given a trustworthy tip that the next Amazon or Microsoft was available to buy real cheap… In their joy they would sell all the stocks they owned so they could buy that stock. If you went to a garage sale and found a antique for 10,000 dollars that you saw valued at 10 million dollars on antique road show… You would go home and in your joy sell

  • Mercy Or Sacrifice?

    12/08/2019 Duration: 16min

Throughout history many Religions of the World have believed that offering sacrifices to God brings people favor and makes them acceptable in God’s sight. It seems as though it is something built in man that lets him know that something must die… blood must be spilt to account for the brokenness of man. The Bible also makes this connection between sin and death and sacrifices. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death… Hebrews 9:22 …without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins. We’ll come back to that shortly… So yes, there have been lot’s of human sacrifices to false gods throughout time… to try and make up for the inadequacy of humanity. The ancient Hawaiians believed that by sacrificing humans to Ku, the god of war, they could achieve victory in their battles. For the Mesopotamians, when royal families died, they sacrificed the palace attendants, warriors, and handmaidens so they could accompany their masters into the afterlife. The Aztecs believed that in order to keep the sun ali

  • Proverbs 5:11 DC The Begining Of Life Or The End Of Death

    27/07/2019 Duration: 02min

Proverbs 5:11 and at the end of your life you groan, when your flesh and body are consumed, The Beginning Of Life Is Jesus The End Of Sin Is Death / Daniel Castor Sins goal is not to briefly distract us from God, but to own us, enslave us and then consume us! Our life is what sin wants and it won't be happy until it has us. “Be killing Sin, or sin will be killing you.” That's right, these are our options. And it gets even worse than this. We can't run from sin. It lives within us; and in our natural state we choose to indulge in it. Because of this truth there is no way for us to conquer our sin. We are in a hopeless situation. Fight with all that we have and we still loose. How then can we kill sin? What hope is there for us? We must call upon the name of Jesus! At the name of Jesus sin shutters, it can do nothing, sin knows that it has no power over Christ. Oh there was once a time when sin tried with all its might to defeat Christ. Every sin committed from the beginning of time to the end was put on hi

  • Proverbs 11:27 BC Not Of Works... Yet Grace To Seek Ye First...

    27/07/2019 Duration: 03min

Proverbs 11:27 Whoever diligently seeks good seeks favor, but evil comes to him who searches for it. Not Of Works... Yet Grace To Seek Ye First... Brad Chase What is good that we should seek it? James 1:17 says Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. And what does it mean to search for good diligently? Matthew 6:33 says: But seek FIRST the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. In other words set your eyes on the kingdom of God before any and all other things. I have 4 children all under the age of 10. They have this down whether they know it or not. See, they know, that if they want something from dad in the evening, then they need to seek to please him during the day. They will work together and seek good behavior and helpfulness and obedience hoping for the favor of dad when he gets home. They will police each other all day to keep the machine
