  • Solo Sesh

    07/06/2018 Duration: 50min

If you've ever found something antique in your attic, you know that you have to handle it with care. It's part of your history and it's has sentimental value, if not monetary value. So to make a movie based on a classic, beloved franchise requires a deft and caring hand. Did Ron Howard preserve this galactic Ming vase (pronounced the pretentious way, with a long A) or did he fumble-finger it onto the hardwood floor of history? In this fun and spoiler-filled episode, Jay and AJ jump into the pilot seats of the Millennium Falcon! They discuss the new lore of the Star Wars spin-off, the logic of the Kessel Run and how this new Han Solo (played by Alden Ehrenreich) measures up! Still Shorter than Chewbacca, of course! So strap in, turn off your 3-D chess boards and stow your blasters while we blast off into our Solo: A Star Wars Story Sesh!   Email us questions, comments or your favorite card games to cinemasesh@gmail.com ! • A Quiet Place Sesh

    13/05/2018 Duration: 32min

Shhhh. They're all around us. They can hear the faintest sound. They'll hunt us until they find us and then...the unthinkable. We need to stay silent. We need to keep each other safe and survive. Better listen to this episode with headphones... On this episode of Cinema Sesh, Jay and AJ tiptoe through the horror film John Krazinski directed, wrote and stars in with Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe. They discuss (quietly) what it would be like to exist in this meticulously built world, the use of silence vs. score and the importance of high stakes in a suspense thriller. So ease carefully into your couch and forget the popcorn (the crunch is too loud) and enjoy A Quiet Place Sesh. Technology is a funny thing: It's just an advanced tool. It's not evil, it's not good; It's what the intention of the being in possession of it that matters. And if, say, an evil monster race of aliens had control of a podcast about movies they could use it to brainwash the listeners...but we wouldn't do that... The Sesh boys talk about John Boyega's ability to helm a franchise, the insane names of the Jaegers and the importance of delivery of monsters in a monster movie. • Maze Runner: The Death Cure Sesh

    07/03/2018 Duration: 01h11min

When facing extinction, one must remember to not panic. If one stays calm one can rationalize through the many options available to oneself. Rounding out the Maze Runner trilogy, the Sesh Boys tackle the most action packed and the most tragic of the movies. Here are some of the riveting highlights: Talking about the logistics of building the Mazes and other massive construction projects in the apocalypse, Which Glader you would want as your backup in battle (Spoiler: It's Minho. He's badass), and How busy were the gods in this movie with all of them Deus Ex Machinas? 28/02/2018 Duration: 38min

The sand whips against your face... The sun beats down on your skin... The zombies pursue you endlessly... Why, oh why, did we decided to spend our vacation in Arizona? The apocalypse is bad enough, and we chose to go to Phoenix? The effects of the Scorch are taking their toll on the Cinema Sesh fellows! They discuss the second Wes Ball Maze Runner film: the pros and cons of the added cast, how the action set pieces are impressive, in spite of the budget, and the logistics of the forces of WCKD! When Thomas is introduced to the Maze, he himself is an emotional and psychological maze...and in this labyrinth, he finds his twin! How about that for shoehorning in a metaphor?! Doesn't it feel good to be learning new things? In this dizzying episode, the Sesh begins to tackle The Maze Runner trilogy, starting with it's first chapter, obviously! Jay and AJ discuss the quality of young actors in the film's cast, the logistics of the maze itself and whether the story is a satisfying, self-contained movie on its own. 16/01/2018 Duration: 41min

We spend a third of our life sleeping. We spend a year and a half of our life on the toilet. And we spend what feels like 110% of our life in transit. Dearest Catherine, We are at war. We have a scant amount of food left and my little toes have had to be amputated due to frostbite. The opposing forces are closing in and I fear I will not see the morning. Oh and we're fighting apes. It's a weird war. The war is kind of allegorical and so is this letter. • Transformers: The Last Knight Sesh

    26/06/2017 Duration: 57min

Kids have all the fun. They get to play in the dirt, splash around in puddles, build forts and it's not weird if they collect hundreds of toys. But if you're an adult, people look at you weird if you have a full room dedicated to the action figures. Except if you jump up to the next level...except if you're Michael Bay. Then you get to play in the Autobot junkyard, you get to splash around in the Atlantic Ocean, build a gigantic planet fortress and throw in Optimus Primse and as many Transformers that will fit on a screen! But does that equal a good movie? AJ and Jay decide as they discuss Bay's 5th and possibly final installment of Transformers. They guys dig into the decade old franchise, attempting to compare and contrast the 5 movies, do a roll call of the big names that have appeared in the franchise and try to discern if anything in this movie makes sense. Make sure the seat you're in isn't secretly a robot in disguise and settle in for this Sesh of Transformers: The Last Knight.   Email us your own tho

  • The Mummy Sesh

    12/06/2017 Duration: 45min

Now, when I die, don't think I'm a nut. Don't want no fancy funeral, just one like ole King Tut. Seems like a fun process. Get part of your brain yanked out with a hook. Have your vital organs put into separate jars, your eyes get replaced with onions! Thank goodness your already dead! Fun Fact: When you type in 'Process of' into Google, 'mummification' is the first autofill result. Listen, we're gonna level with you. Nothing in this movie is nearly as interesting as that description of mummification AJ found on Google. It's a mess of grayness, CGI zombies and simplistic plot/dialogue. "But guys" you may ask, "the movie couldn't possibly be that bad, could it?". Listen, far be it from us to dissuade you from going to the cinema and pumping currency into our economy which it desperately needs, but maybe go see...anything else. We discuss this movie, for longer than we probably should and more in depth than it deserves, because we sacrifice for our fans. You're welcome. Please enjoy Jay and AJ grumbling through

  • Wonder Woman Sesh

    05/06/2017 Duration: 01h07min

Who has ever wished they could go back in time? See the world of yesteryear, experience a younger, more innocent world. One with fewer rights for everyone who wasn't white and male, no penicillin and a complete lack of internet. Actually that sounds incredibly awful. The only good thing is that Kyle, that jerk from work, wouldn't have been born yet.  Let's face it, folks. War is hell. But you know what makes it better? Superheroines! In the newest installment of the DCEU, we join Diana Prince AKA Wonder Woman AKA Gal Gadot as she kicks ass across Europe during World War I or, as your great grandparents knew it at the time, "The Great War". • Pirates 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales Sesh

    29/05/2017 Duration: 01h20min

With the tide high and the wind at our backs, we once again grab the wheel and point our ship toward wherever adventure takes us. Will we search for some magical treasure? Or fight some cursed pirates? Or retread the same tropes of the first four movies? All compasses point to maybe.  AJ and Jay have loved the pirate franchise since they both saw Curse of the Black Pearl when it premiered on AJ's birthday in 2003. They've stuck with these characters for 14 years and five movies. But now, with the end on the horizon, how will the possible final chapter of Captain Jack Sparrow and the rest of his pirate cohorts fair on the choppy waters of sequel overload? Don't miss this episode where the boys navigate the waters of the past movies, the perils of character fatigue and the possibility of Jack hanging up his dreadlocks. Make sure you have enough lemons as not to get scurvy while you come out on the high seas with Cinema Sesh and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.    Email us your thoughts, questio

  • Alien: Covenant Sesh

    20/05/2017 Duration: 01h03min

Covenant Complaint Log, 2104: When I agreed to go on this colonization mission, I was told that it's gonna be a good time. We were gonna make a new home on a far away planet and I'd never have to see that jerk Kyle from work ever again. I'm not complaining, it's nice to sleep for years on end but there was nothing in the brochure about aliens with acid blood! Also, they lost my luggage. One Star. Would not recommend. Although, that review of the experience on the Covenant was not a ringing endorsement, Jay and AJ may have a different opinion of Alien: Covenant the movie! We take you through the convoluted history of the Alien movies, discuss the differences between a good movie and a great movie and ask the question "Do androids dream of electric xenomorphs?". So settle into your comfy stasis pods and ask Muthur to play the latest episode of Cinema Sesh!   Email us your thoughts, questions or hate mail to cinemasesh@gmail.com   Follow our social media antics! https://twitter.com/CinemaSesh  https://www.instag

    15/05/2017 Duration: 58min

A legend is sung of when England was young and knights were brave and bold. But they weren't knights anymore and Arthur was raised by a whore and Jude Law was being a jerk. The sword in the stone had to be pulled by the one who was worth of ruling the land. And Guy Ritchie was there to add quips and flair but did it all work out in the end?   AJ and Jay sit down this week to talk about King Arthur: The Legend of the Sword! They're not from ancient England so there was a bit of a culture divide but they do their best to break it all down for you. They discuss the stars, special effects and insane editing in this summer box office offering. Pull up a stone and hang out for this podcast! Just make sure you pull the sword out first. Enjoy!
