Continuing #ScottSeptember this episode sees Paul and I discuss Ridley Scott's iconic '1984' Apple Macintosh commercial (if you've never seen this, I strongly recommend you check this out on YouTube, it's a beut). Oh, and we recorded this in the summer of 2023 and so when I criticise the government/ the home office, I am slagging off the Conservative Party/ Robert Jenrick. Good riddance, etc. 

Okey-dokey, #ScottSeptember continues with this episode- which eagle-earer listeners may note was recorded last summer- where Paul and I discuss Ridley Scott's 'Black Rain'. And there's talk of many of Scott's films in this ep as we spend a significant amount of time discussing the themes running throughout the director's filmography (during which Paul says something about 'Blade Runner 2049' which I 1000% disagree with- though I don't think I address that with him until our forthcoming 'Blade Runner' episode...).

It's #ScottSeptember baby as this episode (which Paul, Kieran and I recorded back in mid-December 2022) kicks off a run of Ridley Scott 1980s episode. Today's film is 'Legend', the director's 1985 fanasy film starring a pre-'Top Gun' Tom Crusie and so you can expect talk of 'Lord of the Rings', Game of Throne, director's cuts of films (a Scott staple), as well as misadventures in laundry. Ahead of the release of 'Beetlejuice Beetlejuice' (weird title, but whatever) I decided this was the perfect time to sit down on mic and give my thoughts on the original 1988 Tim Burton film, 'Beetlejuice', along with my scepticsim about the upcoming sequel.

This week it's mediations on love and loss with this 2022 conversation from the SpielbergPod archives. It's a One Perfect Scene episode, with Paul and I discussing the (super emotional) final scene of Steven Spielberg's 'E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial'.

This episode- recorded... uh.... about a week after the UK election- sees Paul, Kieran and I in a very, very good mood as we sit down to discuss the final James Bond film starring Roger Moore, 'A View To A Kill'. And we have much to discuss including: quiches, my fear of being run over by an invisible car, Dick van Dyke, going undercover in a crab-shack and what exactly is 'a view to a kill'.

Okay, little backstory to this epsiode. On the sister podcast- the SpielbergPod (and the Patreon feed over at www.patreon.com/ERRP)- occassionally we do 'One Perfect Scene' epiosdes, where we discuss perfect scenes from films. Anyway, today's episode of ERRP is one of these, so it's me and Paul just* talking about one scene from James Cameron's 'Aliens' (*obvioulsly we talk a bunch about the the Alien franchise in general from the '79 original to Romulus, which comes out soon). And the specific scene we are talking about sees characters discuss the facehugger eggs (foreshadowing the queen) and Riply confronts Burke. Oh, and to compiicate things further, the scene is slightly different in the Director's Cut version of the film to the theatrical one, so we touch on both iterations of the scene.

In this episode- recorded late 2023- Paul and I return to the filmography of Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger, with a discussion on 'Conan the Barbarian'. 

In this episode Paul and I return to the world of DC Comics with a lively discussion on 'Superman II'.  (Note- eagle eared listeners may note I claim that Richard Donner directed the film 'Santa Claus: The Movie' and, upon review, it turns out I was talking complete rubbish).

In this episode- also recorded late 2023- Paul and I discuss the David Lean classic, 'Brief Encounter'. You can expect talk of trains, classic film romances and Bath buns. 

In this episode- recorded late 2023- Paul and I once again discuss the work of Alfred Hitchcock with this this conversation on 'Rope', a film right up there with the best of Hitch's oeuvre.

In this episode- recorded last summer- I finally return to the wonderful world of 1940s cinema and- in particular- to the work of Yasujirō Ozu (the director of 'Tokyo Story') with a solo conversation about his 1949 film, 'Late Spring' (a film well worth watching, if you get the chance). And even though it's a short episode I find time to talk about a number of things but- in particualr- I look at this film from a queer perspective. I also have things to say about The Game of Life.

Shaken AND stirred, Kieran, Paul and I are back once again to talk about James Bond with this week's episode on 'Octopussy'. A film, it's fair to say, we have many issues with. Oh, and after Paul has to depart, late in the episode, Kieran and I take stock of the rumours surrounding Aaron Taylor-Johnson maybe being the new 007.

In this episode- recorded right at the tail end of 2023- Campbell and I discuss cult horror film 'Killer Klowns from Outer Space', and dig deep into Campbell's childhood clown trauma which came as a result of seeing this movie at a young age.

In this short solo episode I discuss the music videos for 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun' (directed by Edd Griles) and 'The Goonies 'R' Good Enough' (directed by Richard Donner) from pop superstar Cyndi Lauper. Because why not?

Great Scott! In this episode of the podcast- fittingly- we travel back in time to 2015 and 2016 for two conversations originally recorded for my original podcast, the SpielbergPod.  These two conversations are on 'Back to the Future' (with my good friend Jake) and 'Back to the Future Part II' (with my equally excellent pal Paul).  And the three of us have a lot of love for these brilliant movies.

In this episode Paul and I pick back up with our ongoing DIsney coverage with a discussion on 'The Fox and the Hound'. We also pause to say goodbye to Carl Weathers (we recorded this the week he died) and to share our thoughts on hunting, particularly fox hunting (spoiler: we're not fans).
