Your job is to create something so profound, so authentic to you that others want to join you on your journey! Or maybe you are not a leader and you want more fulfillment in your life. • CGP Ep149 Getting to the CORE of Core Training

    28/09/2016 Duration: 41min

Core Training? Yawn! Boring! Heard it, read it, been there and got the T-shirt! I agree. If I saw a podcast on “Core Training” I would probably bypass it thinking it is just another discussion on the anatomy of the core and what each muscle does and how true core training is about resisting movement not flexion and extension. Thats why I had to record this podcast. Core training to me is soooooo much more! So have a listen and let me know what you think? I guarantee that you will disagree with 1/2 of it! If you are a McGill person or a Gray guy you will find at least 1/2 of it controversial. Does the fitness industry really have to be a 2 party system? Hope you enjoy and get in the conversation! Thank you to each and everyone of you for being loyal Glisteners and being a part of the Coach Glass community! Thank you also to our sponsors @kvest3d @perform_better @mytpi We couldn’t do it without you all! Cheers! Coach Glass

  • CGP Ep148 Movement Feedback Systems

    14/09/2016 Duration: 32min

The human body is an amazing collection of systems that receives information from the senses and adjusts posture and movement according to the stimulus. Left to its own devices it runs at a hyper speed of efficiency when it comes to taking in the environment stimuli and making appropriate responses to those stimuli. But for some reason, trainers and athletes try to override those senses and use their own “best judgement” on how the body should move and respond to the stresses applied to the body throughout our training or sport. In this episode I will break down how the body performs billions of actions, responses and double checks all of its decision without you even knowing about it and how we can slow down the efficiency of our super computer by “thinking!” How do you know if your form is correct while performing a deadlift? A mirror, video, or a coach? How do you determine whether or not you hit a good shot in golf? Wait till you walk up to the green to see how close it is to the pin? How do you know if y

  • CGP MotiTation Six

    09/09/2016 Duration: 07min

This is a MotiTation (MotiTation= Motivation + Meditation) This recording is to be listened to at the end of your training session. Lie on your back in the pool of sweat you created from your handwork. Now find your breathe and relax. Press play and listen to the Motivation. Its that simple. There are elements that may inspire you, challenge you, force you to look yourself in the mirror and motivate you to be your best! I love the analogy that you can write your own story. Sometimes we get so caught up in the writing of the story we neglect to look back and be our own editor! Is the current storyline leading to the desired final chapter? This Episode is about being seeing the big picture when it comes to your training, practice or career. We need to stay focussed but not neglect the forest for the trees. Listen to CGP Ep146 Sharpening The Blade for more on this week’s MotiTation topic! Enjoy. Coach Glass

  • CGP Ep146 Sharpening The Blade

    07/09/2016 Duration: 33min

Any great chef will tell you, if you spend time sharpening the blade before you start to cook you will be faster, more efficient and more precise with your blade. Same thing applies with your training program, business or any other aspect of your life that you are wanting to maximize your potential in. So how do you sharpen your mental blade? Take a break! Take a break and look at your life from 10,000ft! Look at your systems, rituals, routines or program as if they belong to someone else. We are so quick to judge others but give ourselves a pass or avoid facing the truth about who we really are. Avoid justifying the elements that deep down you know is holding you back. Then ask yourself, “What makes me excited to get back to when I step in the gym or office tomorrow.” What ever popped in your head first is the thing that I want you to focus on first. What is it about that element that gives you so much joy, excitement or fulfillment? Can you find that same joy in some of the activities that you choose to avo

    30/08/2016 Duration: 34min

Alwyn Cosgrove @alwyncosgrove is one of the most respected fitness professionals on the globe and someone who I consider a friend and mentor. I knew when I put the mics on that this episode would be an instant classic and a conversation that we couldn’t complete in 30 minutes. I was right! We also tackle a controversial subject while discussing the business of being a great presenter and why it has become a male dominated field. Results Fitness is all about getting results! Alwyn and I discuss weight loss and what is the driv

  • CGP Ep143 Movement #PATCH

    24/08/2016 Duration: 34min

What is the future of fitness? Is the focus moving away from the beach body and toward wellness and functional pain free movement? Or are we pushing toward maximizing strength, maxing out our power outputs, and creating a body that can survive the zombie apocalypse? I have seen the introduction of more trends and fitness fads over my 25 years in the fitness industry than I have been mistaken for Mark Wahlberg in the airport (which happens often). We have gone from body building, aerobics, personal training, tai bo, spin classes, Crossfit, Zumba, Spartan Racing, and Ninja Warrior training. The pendulum swings and it sways and it repeats itself throughout history. I believe the one constant, that may not be sexy and may not be marketable, but is always relevant and the priority for a happy life….MOVEMENT TRAINING. In this episode I share with you how training for movement and not just the basics but hopping, jumping, rolling, crawling and balancing on apparatus like the #PATCH (@themovementnerd) will truly give

  • CGP Ep138 Myopic Training

    20/07/2016 Duration: 39min

Most of us would agree that the best coaches in the world have the ability to see things that the novice coach misses. As you progress through your career you focus on improving your ability to identify the little things that will make massive performance changes in your athletes. The problem with this thought process is we tend to get so myopic or narrow focussed we miss the big picture. I like to look at movement through a blurred lens on the initial viewing. This may seem counter intuitive but it allows me to see the big picture and decide where I need to focus my attention. Now I can go deep with my assessment of movement and make my corrections. Once I have applied my correction, activation or coaching point I will then pack off and again view the movement as a whole again. I am sure you have either had this or seen other coaches make the mistake of focusing on the symptom and not the problem. Lets use the example of a deep squat assessment. Lets say your athlete pitches forward with their heels off the

This Episode is about being consistently producing quality work that culminates into greatness. One step at a time, one page at a time, one checklist after another over time yields greatness. • CGP Ep137 #BeUNDENIABLE The Autobiography

    13/07/2016 Duration: 45min

Have you ever wanted something so bad you are vibrating at the thought of attaining it? What did you do about it? Did you take steps each day to make it a reality? Did you wake up each day ready to leap over obstacles in your path and make a mental commitment to be undeniable? If so… you need to listen to this! In this episode I share with you how I got my first job as the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach at a major University, how I created a problem that only I could fix just to get a job and how over delivering before your future employer or client even knows you want the job can lead to a dream career! I share the story of how I went from taking TPI Level 1 classes to teaching them. If these stories don’t make you dust off that dream that you conceded defeat on years ago, you don’t have a pulse! • CGP Ep136 #OVERDELIVER The Autobiography

    06/07/2016 Duration: 41min

Would you take a job if you knew exactly how much money you would make, how often you get a raise, what your retirement day is, what you will get for your retirement and everything else in your career is predetermined. Or are you like me and just the thought of this gives you a pee shiver? Figuring out what drives you is such a huge determinant on whether or not you fulfill your destiny. Do you like the safe, controlled, planned life or do you want to jump off the cliff and build your wings on the way down? What do you do when you are faced with an obstacle that will slow down your progress? Do you have what it takes to make huge changes and adapt to an ever changing environment? Here is my story on how I made choices in my life when faced with these questions. This Epidode is part 2 of the Coach Glass Autobiography (Am I the worst or what?) We talk college, my first job as a personal trainer, the evolution of my first sports performance company, Kinetica, and how it helped me develop a unique skill set that

  • CGP Ep135 #DREAMBIG The Autobiography

    29/06/2016 Duration: 39min

I am asked all the time: “Coach, how did you get started” “Where did your perspective on fitness and human performance come from?” “ Why is your sense of humour so twisted and often inappropriate?” “What do I need to do to get on stage and present MY training and coaching philosophy?” Well, this podcast trilogy will answer all those questions. In the first instalment I share where my #DreamBig concept came from. We will go for a journey from the conception of the Coach to graduation day and everything in between. I share the story of how I ran my first small business out of my locker in high school and where my insatiable urge to grind, create and over deliver comes from! One of my favourite quotes is “Don’t follow the path of the greats but instead study what motivated them and inspired them to take the path they travelled.” Im sure I screwed this quote up but you get the idea! Listen to the stories and connect the dots on how your similar experiences have imprinted greatness in you. We also want to introduc
