Welcome to the Glorious in the Mundane podcast! Thank you for tuning in week after week! I have been so humbled to get to sit down with so many sweet and amazing people over the past few months, it has been like drinking from a well! Today is no exception. I’m so glad that if you’ve never heard of Ellie Holcomb that you’re going to be introduced to her and her music or maybe if you’ve listened to Ellie for quite some time, you’ll get a little glimpse into her heart and her world. Ellie and her husband Drew (of Drew Holcomb & the Neighbors) are both incredibly talented musicians and singer/songwriters and you’ll even hear Ellie featured on many of Drew’s albums as well. Ellie’s dad, Brown Bannister was the producer of many early (and very successful) Christian artists like the Imperials, Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith and Steven Curtis Chapman so she was raised around good, soul music her whole life. So it’s no surprise that Ellie just knows how to skillfully mesh the Word of God with that kind of music…the k

Hello and welcome to the Glorious in the Mundane podcast! Today, you’ll get to hear some random thoughts around Sabbath and what that has meant to me lately both as a state of mind and literally physically learning how to HAVE as Sabbath each week. Having an actual Sabbath puts this whole “Bullseye living” thing in a whole new light! You’ll hear about our family putting it to practice this past Sunday…just a little glorious humor for your mundane today. You’ll also hear about a little adventure that I recently embarked on with a couple of friends and how God showed up and surprised me in the sweetest way. And I’m also thrilled to play a song today on the podcast! I promise to do more of this in the future, including my own songs, but today you will get to hear what I think is one of the most beautiful songs ever! It was written by two friends of mine, Bryan Brown and today’s guest, Audrey Assad! Audrey is a singer, songwriter, worship leader, wife, mom and entrepreneur. She’s an independent artist like mysel

Welcome to The Glorious in the Mundane podcast! Today you’ll hear some rumblings around my first Christmas record currently in the making! I can’t tell you how life giving it has been, especially during some very dark days in our country, to be writing around the HOPE of Jesus. You will hear some familiar classics on this project but you’ll also hear what I hope will be some new classics centered in the person of JESUS. And…one my favorite moments of the little Texas podcast run that I did last month was getting to hang at the IF Gathering offices in Austin and sit down with my friend, Jennie Allen! Jennie is the author of “Anything” and “Restless”, two books that I know without a doubt that have literally changed people’s lives. On top of being an author and a speaker, Jennie is a mover and a shaker and is the leader of IF Gathering... a movement that exists to equip women to live in the full purpose God has for them. She’s also a Mama of 4 and wife to Zac and over all about as feisty as they come…and I’ve c

  • GITM #5: Jamie Ivey

    20/07/2016 Duration: 01h05min

Welcome to the Glorious in the Mundane podcast, I hope you are having an amazing week! I’m so happy to have gotten to sit down with the lovely Jamie Ivey a few weeks ago on my Texas podcast run… Jamie is beloved in the IF Gathering community of women and is one of those people who I share numerous mutual friends with but we have never really gotten to sit and chat. I met Jamie at the first IF Gathering in Austin, TX when I led worship with her husband Aaron literally only a few hours after meeting him! They are an incredibly influential team of a couple in Austin but now God is literally using Jamie all over the place through her own podcast called The Happy Hour. In my earliest moments of breathing out the idea of wanting to do a podcast, several of my friends said, “you have to listen to Jamie!” I did, and was so inspired by her style and her ease and the way she has championed so many incredible women who are doing so many incredible things! Jamie has been a cheerleader to me through this process, even a c

Hello and welcome to the Glorious in the Mundane podcast! Today I’ll talk a little bit about the week we have just had in our nation - one we will never forget - I’m sure there are all kinds of prayers and songs rising up from the people of God over this but one that kept coming to my heart was a song that I wrote several years ago called “By Our Love”…Brothers, let us come togetherWalking in the SpiritThere’s much to be doneWe will come reaching, out from our comfortsAnd they will know us by our love…Sisters, we were made for kindnessWe can pierce the darknessAs He shines through usWe will come reachingWith a song of healingAnd they will know us by our loveThe time is now,Come Church ariseLove with His hands,See with His eyesBind it around youLet it never leave youAnd they will know us by our loveChildren, you are hope for justiceStand firm in the truth nowSet your hearts aboveYou will be reachingLong after we’re goneAnd they will know you by your love…I’m so grateful to say that my guest today is the beauti

  • GITM #3: Angie Smith

    05/07/2016 Duration: 55min

Hello beautiful people and welcome to The Glorious in the Mundane podcast! Thank you so much or tuning in last week. We have been having an absolute blast putting all of this together! In fact, I just got back home from a week long podcast tour in Texas. We visited Dallas, Austin and Houston with a quick pit stop at the Magnolia Silos to grab us a Cowboy Coffee and some inspiration of course…In today’s episode I’m going to share one of my favorite stories from this journey and honestly one of my favorite stories about my husband, Nathan. You’ll get to hear more about how God began to come after my heart like never before in terms of trust and surrender. The thing was, I thought I was surrendered to Him but really it was just the beginning of me understanding how to truly open my hands and my heart to Him. It’s also sweet after all this time to look back and see God’s faithfulness! It’s so hard and scary to give up precious things but God has a way of giving them back 100 fold somehow...Also, I’m so pleased to

  • GITM #2: Annie Downs

    28/06/2016 Duration: 57min

Hello there beautiful people and welcome to The Glorious in the Mundane podcast!I’m pleased to announce that today’s special guest is a new friend of mine, Miss Annie Downs. I’ve gotten to know her over the past few years as we’ve gotten to serve together on the platform but also because we have several mutual friends here in the Nashville area.Annie released a book just this past April called Looking for Lovely. I read it while on a plane headed to the Cayman Islands, a getaway I take with close friends every year, and it was just what I needed to open my heart and mind to what God would have for me as I unplugged. Annie’s “voice” is just effortless to take in as a reader and that means a lot to me since I have attention span issues, ha ha. It was a joy to read and it made me think through some things that I had not thought through before. I always love it when I discover an age old truth for the first time or at least get the chance to think about it in a whole new way.I’m grateful that Annie has been faith

Well, as I mentioned on Instagram, I couldn’t be more giddy about the launch of this podcast! It has been a long time dream of mine to make this happen, one that I hadn’t mentioned to very many people. I honestly didn’t think it was a possibility for me so it’s just so exciting to actually see it unfold! I want to thank my husband Nathan for encouraging me from the moment I breathed out the idea and to my manager, Matt Guice for literally carrying it into fruition. I’m every grateful. In this segment you’ll be able to listen to the story behind the theme, how it all came about several years ago and why it has burned on my heart all of these years. Any time I get to teach, I usually teach on it because it’s something that I find that most everyone can relate to… We all sense that we are made for more and we have dreams and plans for Kingdom things but often we work from a place of exhaustion because we’re ultimately looking to ourselves and our performance to keep ourselves “on the map” in terms of relevance, c
