I have LOVED this spring series so much! God has been reminding me of truth that He set in my heart, so long ago, knowing that I would need that truth to wash over me again, TODAY! We are going to remember together, that God always knows where to find us. Though there’s much temptation to just skip being made in the secret place (especially when we see the world around us charging forward!) God is preparing us, protecting us and will promote us when we wait in trust for Him. We will also look into the connection of God’s presence being one of the central ways that we are able to remain in the love of God, as Jesus commanded us. It’s going to be a beautiful time to even receive His love over us once more! Today we are celebrating the release of another EP called “Knees to the Earth,” which is the next three songs from the "Live from Keeper's Branch" album  that we are unfolding this spring! Not only are these songs so sacred to us, many of them have very sacred stories behind them and today’s song emphasis, “Knees to the Earth,” is definitely one of those kind of stories! You don’t want to miss it! And you know me, it’s never just about the song or its story, but it’s always about the truth that’s set in them! Okay so…somehow this episode got really personal! Did I actually just reveal what I want my “Grandma” name to be, someday? Or, maybe it feels personal because this song, “Lord, I Need You”, that we’ll come around today, is very dear to me! I’ll talk about being a part of writing it around a table of dear friends, who have been more like brothers to me. But, I’ll also give you some insight into being the only woman at that table, and in that community, for a very long time. It was both a privilege and a pruning ground that God used to grow me as a woman, songwriter and leader. I’ll also begin a narrative that I’ll carry throughout some of the other episodes this spring, about the very beginnings of God calling me to songwriting and worship leading. Rather than doors flying open and me, running with momentum, it was more a still—even sometimes silent and hidden—beginning. It has been so beautiful to get to release some new, yet familiar—even tried and true songs—in this season! One of those is the song, “Breathe” paired with another beloved song, “Let it Be Jesus.” Today, I’ll take you back to the seasons I was in when I first began to sing and lead both of these beautiful songs. They were very significant seasons in my life and in my spiritual formation, and to merge them together on this new album is such a joy. It’s amazing how songs can truly become guideposts and guardrails in our journey, even a gateway to surrendering more of our heart to God’s heart! We’ll kind of walk through that gateway together, using these two songs, and talk about how God wants these proclamations we sing to become realities in our hearts and lives. “God, I breathe Your Name above everything,” is more than just a beautiful lyric! Today we will kick off a spring series in celebration of NEW (but familiar!) music—my EP “You Revive Me”, releases THIS WEEK wherever you listen to music! I’ve named today’s episode “Up ‘Till Now”, because this album (that will continue to unfold throughout the spring) feels like an Ebenezer moment, to stop and say, “Up ‘till now, the Lord has been our help!” He has been so faithful, so kind and true, even through some of the hardest seasons in life.Also, as promised, today I will share with you what I wrote and read at my precious Mama’s celebration of life! If you or someone you know has experienced loss this season, you’ll want to listen and pass this one along. There will be more to come with sharing some beautiful truths that I’ve learned and received from my sweet Mama’s legacy. But for now, this is me letting you in on some of the last days and hours of her precious life here on earth. When we released the beloved hymn, Be Thou My Vision, on November 10th, I could never have imagined that my mother would go Home to Jesus just eleven days later. Okay, so this one made me weepy! Today we’ll be in Psalm 118 which is a part of the Hallel—a collection of six Psalms (113-118) that have been sung and recited on joyous occasions and festivals all throughout Israel’s history. We’ll remember together that Jesus would have sung these very Psalms as a little boy, as well as his disciples, and Psalm 118 was sung by Jesus and his disciples together just before they made their way to the Mount of Olives. It’s this beautiful picture of the power of worship when it’s rooted and grounded in timeless Scripture, but then experienced in the very presence of Jesus! May we be a part of the true worshipers who will worship in Spirit and in Truth, singing about God, TO God! Today we’re in beautiful Psalm 19 where we’ll remember together that God set revelation in the heavens that is pouring out promise over us day and night, night and day!This kind of framework, His order, His heart, His way, postures us to look into His rules, even His boundaries for us. To heed their warning—yes—but to also know the great reward in keeping His way! Today I’m going to tell you about some home renovations that Nate and I have embarked on this summer, just to let you in on a little bit of our world and the DIY adventures that we find ourselves swimming in! With all that going on, the Psalms have kept a steady STIRRING in me and I pray the Lord has used them in the same way for you! Today we will be in Psalm 66 together where we will explore the beautiful declaration of, “As for me, I will tell what He has done for my soul.” We’ll talk about leaning in with intentionality to tell God what He has done, as well as others! Yes, we’ll be reminded of the importance of surrounding ourselves with people who we experience Truth with. Last week we talked about a holy resolve, when we have a shift in perspective upon remembering what is TRUE about God, about ourselves and the world around us. I’m SO THRILLED that the SUMMER IN THE PSALMS series is back! I have needed this in my own life!! The lazy days of summer can be wonderful, but I find that it’s easy to drift from my rhythm of staying grounded in truth if I’m not careful. I hope this series meets you right on time in the same way! Today we’ll look at Psalm 73 together. It’s about as honest as it gets, I love it! We can glean so much from it as we witness the Psalmist sing of his struggle but most importantly, we get to see where he goes to find answers. The Psalmist is looking around him and things just don’t make sense. He has been careful to keep his life pure, but his only reward seems to be pain and turmoil. Yet, he looks around and sees people who don’t care a thing about God or His ways and they seem to have it all together! He assures us that he was tempted to say out loud what was REALLY in his head and his heart concerning his bitterness but—thankfully for you and me—he chooses a different path, a better resolve.
