  • Bits & Pieces Podcast #26 - 2019 in Review

    01/02/2020 Duration: 59min

And it's over. I don't know if you had noticed but 2019 is officially history. The keen eyed among you probably notice these kinds of events but it took us a whole month to realise and get a podcast out. In this episode we are going to run through some of the highlight games we played in 2019. George finally played Red Dead Redemption 2, so there is a big bit of chat about that game. Nevi also sings the praises of Sekiro and Hollow Knight. While Gav talks about games that I've forgotten while writing this. If I remember I will add them at the end, if not then that's a nice surprise for you isn't it?

  • Bits & Pieces Podcast #25 - 2019 UK Games Expo Special

    22/08/2019 Duration: 01h19min

So it's a little late, but we were faster than last year. At this rate, we'll release a UKGE podcast on time in just 7 years! Anyway... Once again, Nevi and George went off to Birmingham to try a load of board games and on this episode they're reporting back on what they played. It's an episode packed with mild takes on some of 2019's most real board games. Gav is here too and one day he'll probably actually play a board game. In the episode you'll hear about: Age of Sigmar Champions, Undaunted: Normandy Museums Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrel: A Board Game of English Magic One Month Later On the Underground Raid on Takao Imperial Settlers Roll & Write Smash City Donning the Purple The Menace Among Us, Blood on the Clocktower

  • Talkthrough #2 - The Citadel of Chaos

    10/06/2019 Duration: 33min

And, Talkthrough is back. It's been what, nearly a year? But here I am, with a Talkthrough of The Citadel of Chaos. This book added magic and all the additional choices that come with those otherworldly powers. Thankfully, this episode features far less going mad in a cave - I think The Warlock of Firetop Mountain scared me a little. I now have every intention to continue this podcast series, but I said that last time so I won't make any promises. Anyway, enjoy the Talkthrough and let me know if you've managed to conquer The Citadel of Chaos.

  • Bits & Pieces Podcast #24 - 1001 Games

    06/05/2019 Duration: 01h14min

And, we're back again. In episode 24, we are talking a lot about turn-based strategy games including: X-COM 2, Mutant Year Zero, Phoenix Point and something else I've surely forgotten. George and Gav have also been playing Risk of Rain 2 which sounds excellent. Earlier this month, George also had quite a sleepy time at EGX Rezzed and tells us all the things he played and why he was just so sleepy. After all the game chat, we make our grand return to quizzing. George has prepared a quiz all about the 1001 games to play before you die. You can join in our outrage as certain games are excluded and insane games are included. Enjoy!

  • Bits & Pieces Podcast #23 - Boardgamisode

    23/03/2019 Duration: 01h39min

Hello and welcome to the wonderful, nay fantastical, boardgamisode. In this episode, we run through some of the games Nevi played at AireCon 5 such as Solar Storm and The Old Hellfire Club. We also discuss two seminars - From Sketch to Store Shelves and Data Mining BoardGameGeek. http://dvatvani.github.io/BGG-Analysis-Part-1.html After the AireCon 5 discussion, George tells us about two small box games he's been playing - Decrypto and High Society. And then, Gav shares a story about a time he played DnD. Once all the chat is over, we play a few rounds of Billionaire Banshee. Feel free to play along, guess whether we'd date these people or maybe you want a date yourself? Thanks for listening.

  • Bits & Pieces Podcast #22 - All Consoles Go to Heaven

    16/03/2019 Duration: 01h06min

And we're back. Did you miss us? I bet you missed us. It's our silky smooth voices, the fact that we can ramble on about video games for hours at a time and how we always end up talking about either The Witcher 3 or Metal Gear Solid V, isn't it? Well not today. Today we stay roughly on track. Firstly, Gav and George chat about Apex Legends. Secondly, the double G's have an intervention with me (Nevi) about why I keeping buying and owning dead game systems. And nextly, we end with some chat about the new Pokemon Sword and Shield games that will be set on these fair isles - minus Wales. All in all a good podcast, and if anybody got the podcast name do let me know. Enjoy!

  • Bits & Pieces Podcast #21 - The Cuckoo in the Nest

    05/02/2019 Duration: 01h35min

Ringing in a belated gaming New Year with the first 2019 episode of the Bits & Pieces podcast, the lads gather round to discuss Waluigi-related conspiracy theories and what the year holds in gaming.

  • Bits & Pieces Podcast #20 - It's a Wonderful Life

    25/12/2018 Duration: 01h14min

It’s a bit late, but it’s Christmas so that’s my excuse. They’re making a new Sonic Movie and Ol’ Blue is looking real weird so obviously, we talked about that. Red Dead Redemption 2, check. God dammnit get that game out on PC, I need to ride off into that sunset sooner or later. Anyway, I’ve been handed a beer and it’s almost 7pm on Christmas Eve. Some other games get a look in I believe, there’s a festive quiz* of sorts, it’s basically a whole podcast. So from all of us have a good Christmas. Assassins Creed: Odyssey, that comes up.

  • Bits & Pieces Podcast #19 - 3 Disc Special Edition

    14/11/2018 Duration: 01h29s

George and Gav here, unfortunately, Nevi was away this episode so there was no one to stop us getting all nostalgic about games that came on multiple discs. The early to mid-00s, what a crazy time eh. Gav's been getting into fights in Soul Calibre 6 while I wax lyrical about the joyous absurdity of Landfall Games' Totally Accurate Battlegrounds (Check out William Nylund's twitter for some wonderful gifs of experimental units). • The Much Belated 2018 UK Games Expo Special Podcast

    06/11/2018 Duration: 01h07min

It's a blast from the past in this podcast special episode with some chats I had at the 2018 UKGE. I was lucky enough to chat with so many people through the expo and managed to record a few of those conversations.  Being the idiot that I am, some of the recordings were completely unusable due to me not plugging in the mics correctly... Anyway, my stupidity aside these are some interesting conversations even if they are almost six months late. There are also some bits of my actually playing the games I was being shown but I'm not sure how much you will get out of that as this is an audio podcast.  Let me know either way. Enjoy! • Bits & Pieces Podcast #18 - Beltology

    13/10/2018 Duration: 01h54min

Game-related discussion abounds, including Cyberpunk, Dead Cells, that game wot has a goose in, and the many mysteries of Metal Gear. Then, things get a little heated in the quiz, as the philosophy of belts and buckled-strap attire come under intense scrutiny. Two hours!

  • Bits & Pieces Podcast #17 - Scary Tent Times

    07/09/2018 Duration: 01h20min

Guess who's back again? If you guessed us, then you win the prize of a free podcast. Aren't you a lucky duckling.  In this episode, we bring you the very latest in gaming news. We talk about the start of Prey, about 4 minutes of Breath of the Wild, and The Witcher 3 before delving headlong into a length JRPG discussion.  It mostly focusses on Ni no Kuni 2 and Tales of Berseria and their wildly different tones. After that, George has been playing the Watson & Holmes board game and Gav has a sizeable backlog he is slowly whittling away. Finally, we cap this episode off not with a quiz, but with a Darksiders Choose Your Own Adventure. It's silly, it's poorly written, it could easily be Darksiders cannon, Nevi wrote it and you can read/play it here. Thanks as always for listening, we love you all. • Bits & Pieces Podcast #16 - Board Game Playtesting And Development w/ John Brieger

    21/08/2018 Duration: 51min

This episode George had a chat with John Brieger. John works as both a designer and developer in the industry and has recently taken the dive to go full time (check out his blog on the subject). Alongside his development work, John is known for his blog and twitter where he provides advice on playtesting. You can also find him on twitter @DasBrieger where he offers loads of interesting advice through #PlaytestingTipOfTheDay. • Bits & Pieces Podcast #15 - Bone Guy

    13/08/2018 Duration: 01h27min

Hello! It's time for another Bits & Pieces podcast. This time we have episode number 15 for your listening pleasure.  In this episode, George shares his reforged love of the Brothers in Arms franchise. After that, we Gav tries his darndest to tell us about Slap City, but we go down a rabbit hole of PlayStation All-Stars and other old PlayStation games.  George shares a board game that we picked up at the UK Games Expo called Roll Quest. Thanks again to the guys over at Hercules Game Studios for giving us their demo copy. George still has the Miniature Heroes chocolate box you gave him the game in displayed proudly on his shelf. To cap off this episode Nevi teases everybody's brain with a Nier: Automata quiz that slowly descends into madness.  Enjoy!

  • Bits & Pieces Podcast #14 - E3 Extravaganza!

    21/06/2018 Duration: 02h05min

George and Gav ruminate on the highlights of this year's E3. There was a lot to cover and what was meant to be an hour of efficient electronic entertainment exhibition exposition turned out to be 2 hours of extended electronic entertainment exhibition extrapolation. There's a new Star Wars game by Respawn Will Fallout:76 be ruined by griefers? How faithfully will Forza Horizons recreate the M25 as the racer moves to the UK? Missing the opportunity for a joke about being able to kiss people in Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Love Island. Smash Brothers now features every brother that ever smashed. All that and more, as the boys grapple with the amorphous blob of video games news that oozed out of E3.

  • Talkthrough #1 - The Warlock of Firetop Mountain

    25/05/2018 Duration: 01h39min

Here is a 'Talkthrough' of me playing The Warlock of Firetop Mountain. This is the classic Fighting Fantasy book that started the series. In this podcast, I read through the entire book - or at least as much as you can in a single playthrough.  There is a part in the middle where I get horribly lost and start to lose my mind so I won't hold anything against you if you skip past this section. Trust me it was a lot longer before the edit, but there still a lot of me going "Have I been this way? I've definitely not been this way. Oh wait, yes I have." but if you are happy to listen to a 27-year-old man go insane while reading a book, then enjoy. There is a plan to 'Talkthrough' more of these books as I have a huge stack of them. The next one will be The Citadel of Chaos. However, if you have a favourite you want me to do, then message us on social media or send us an email and I will try to follow those requests. I'll take a picture of all the books I currently have and then we can go from there. Otherwise, I

  • Bits & Pieces Podcast #13 - Far Cry 5, Orwell, Cosmic Encounter, Civ: A New Dawn, Quiz

    09/05/2018 Duration: 01h29min

Howdy stranger, not seen you roun' these here parts befor'. It has been a while since we have podcasted, I fully accept that. Things happened and we got busy, sorry. Anyway, we are back now. Here to tell you all about Far Cry 5 (and spoil the ending, so keep an ear out for that), Orwell: Ignorance is Strength (and how that is a telling representation of modern-day life), and a quiz about my PSN stats (not the most enthralling quiz, but it was impromptu). There is also some board game talk about Civilization: A New Dawn, and something else (just give the podcast a listen). Anyway, regular service should commence with us sporadically doing podcasts, missing months and generally being unreliable. Keep an eye out for more coverage of the UK Games Expo in the coming weeks. George and I are attending and there will be an expo specific podcast. Other than that, you know the drill. Hit us up on all the things and have a nice day.

  • Tales from the Hunt #3 - A Monster Hunter World Podcast

    19/03/2018 Duration: 37min

Calling all hunters. This is episode three of Tales from the Hunt - A Monster Hunter World Podcast. Lots of interesting discussions with plenty of tales from our hunts.  Happy hunting everyone. March 22nd Update Link - http://www.monsterhunterworld.com/us/topics/update/

  • Bits & Pieces Podcast #12 - Breath of the Wild, Stellaris, Into The Breach, Celebrity Quiz

    09/03/2018 Duration: 01h31min

Welcome to the 12th episode of the Bits & Pieces podcast. Thank you all for coming. In this episode, we throw caution to the wind and start with a quiz. George has carefully crafted a celebrity challenge causing cranial confusion.  Alliteration aside, we then chat about George and his new Nintendo Switch. No Switch conversation would be complete without some Breath of the Wild talk. After that, Gav makes every jealous since he has been playing Into the Breach. He has also tried out the latest Stellaris expansion and we toy with the idea of doing a let's play.  After all of that, we pop on our serious hats and discuss whether you should feel guilty for playing games when you could be doing something 'productive'.  Thank you for listening, and we will see you next time.

  • Tales from the Hunt #2 - A Monster Hunter World Podcast

    02/03/2018 Duration: 43min

Greetings once more Hunter. We are back with another episode of Tales from The Hunt - A Monster Hunter World podcast.  In this episode, there will be talk about the heavy bowgun and why it is so damn satisfying to use. This is all capped off with us talking about the Gathering Hub and Arean missions. Happy hunting everyone.
