  • Cellulite, Stretch Marks, Body Hair and Why Shame Hates Fun

    28/03/2016 Duration: 01h02min

Haters will hate, especially online. It's a fact of life, am I right?! We live in a new world where, not only do folks think it's ok to judge our bodies and appearance but that they also feel free to make those judgements without compassion or thoughtfulness online. In the aftermath of the hate thrown towards Holly and others after this post and the response post, we got serious about some of the body issues we, as a collective whole, seem to feel a whole lot of wasted shame on: cellulite, stretch marks, and body hair. These are things our bodies do totally naturally, and mostly your ownership of any of these conditions is basically decided by your genetics. We also talk about shame, how shame hates fun, and is wicked good at ruining an awesome time. --- Learn about our Patreon! Everything represents your integrity. Don't let the little things slip, stay in integrity with your word and with yourself.2. Value yourself and others will value you.3. Dive in, full force, and trust yourself. Scary things won't get less scary (or logical, sometimes) such as starting your biz, or following your dreams, setting huge goals, or starting a family but that doesn't mean you shouldn't go full into it, and trust yourself to rise to the challenges.4. Eat enough to fuel your life. Eat enough whole foods to make your body feel good, eat enough of your cravings to make your emotional head feel good, and notice when something feels bad/good then be willing to adjust.5. Be loved. Yay! XMAS! And you know what that means?! NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS! 19/12/2015 Duration: 01h03min

Today we lament about the depth of the time sink that is travel in the snow in Lacy's Journey to the East Bay, seasonal depression and how hard it is to love many places that you can't live in all at once. Holly discusses FitQuick Protein Donuts and new flavors including a robot charging unicorn Birthday Cake flavor. Our topic is the weight of expectations: from yourself, society and old Eastern European men in casinos. We talk about getting older, linear life paths, and what it means to be a lady, a dude, or someone who doesn't fit either.    We also got an incredible listener email defining "STOKED" <3   1RepSnax!  House Made Peppermint Patties from Timeless! • How to Stay Stoked All Winter Long!

    07/12/2015 Duration: 01h08min

Winter has its charms. For some it's snow, hands wrapped around a warm mug of delicious coffee or tea, scarves and mittens, pumpkin spiced everything or cuddling up with someone cute in full on hibernation mode while binge watching their favorite shows. For others it can mean a battle with the bummed. The darker, colder, weather can sometimes make you feel lethargic and way less driven or stoked. So how do you cope?!   In this weeks episode we discuss our ways of dealing with the gloomy weather especially with Lacy's recent move to the wetter and colder PNW as well as Holly's coping methods with the first winter in California for 3 years (is it a real winter though?). Ideas we throw out include: keeping your programming tight and sticking with your workout plan or possibly getting a more defined workout plan as sometimes "I need to go to the gym" is less driving then "today is squat day!". Also having a workout buddy so you both can drive each other to not skip days, using short cardio stints to warm up

  • Your Rise & Resist Physical and Emotional Holiday Survival Guide!

    24/11/2015 Duration: 58min

Today we discuss how to stay healthy physically, emotionally and mentally during the holiday season! Topics include: building a "game plan" going into family gathers, ways to respond to relatives saying inappropriate questions or comments about your body, getting a buddy system for support if you need it, and other coping mechanisms. Holidays are supposed to be about warmth, family and love but often those are blended with stress, emotional triggers and negative feels. Building a game plan and figuring out ways to deal ahead are ways you can negate the bad and stay healthy. We also, of course, cover our ways of dealing with how to have delicious food that makes you stoked and how to mitigate the eating experience so it stays positive and not anxiety inducing.    <3 Happy Holidays <3 Stay safe out there! --- Follow Us: @xvxh @superstrengthhealth     Join the PlantFit PR Challenge with Holly!      Train with Us: Lacy in Portland! or email lacyisripped@gmail.com   Ho

  • How to handle people talking shit about their bodies.

    19/11/2015 Duration: 01h13min

This weeks episode we catch up with Lacy's Reset and Restore program and how it's been effecting her body and guts athletically, aesthetically, and just feeling great. We also catch up with Holly's Central American travels including how to always have non dairy creamer in the country with the best coffee ever, glowing Avatar water, giant dinosaur crocodiles as well as both of us getting really real.   Besides being all stoked on life, catching up and being back, we also discuss two listener questions. One is about knee socks: why we wear them and are guys immune to shin scrapes?! And another more serious question: How to deal with people around you talking shit on themselves, their bodies, and being self hating. This is a subject that hits close to home as we stand fully in the state of trying to keep it posi on our bodies and selves in a culture so determined to swing us towards hatred but also because sometimes it's just hard to figure out what to do. We take it on as quick as we can, head on, and give

  • How to be an Ally to Someone with an Eating Disorder *Trigger Warning*

    02/11/2015 Duration: 54min

This week we talked about something a little deeper than our squat (SEE WHAT I DID THERE?) We talked about how to be ally to a friend with a (confirmed or suspected) eating disorder. When we finally hit stop on the recorder, I felt something I hadn't felt in a really long time. Raw. A little scared. And like I knew this was a topic that both needed more attention and needed to be out in the world. I also felt unsure that everything I said was right, and like our opinions were just the tip of the iceberg in terms of what could be a larger conversation. Here are a few tips Holly and I came up with for how to be an ally to a struggling friend. If you notice someone's body has gotten smaller, try not to shower them with compliments. This is perhaps a given if someone already has a confirmed eating disorder, but I want to talk about before that happens. When I first started restricting my food, it wasn't because I was necessarily aware that I was about to have an ED. I was heartbroken and unable to eat o

  • How to Keep Going When Sh*t Gets Real, Safely.

    26/10/2015 Duration: 01h25min

Lacy has been dealing with sickness, and Holly has been dealing with injury, so this week seemed like a good time to address motivation to get through challenges, cultivating your inner cheerleader, and how to find the balance between discomfort and injury. Basically: how do we keep going when shit starts to get real, safely.   Follow Us: @xvxh @superstrengthhealth     Train or Work with Lacy in Portland! or email lacyisripped@gmail.com   Sign Up for the Reset and Restore HERE - there are just three spots left!
